Recently, it has been noticed that several members have had their post counts being unnaturally altered, or in other words, their post counts have been going down for no apparent reason.
Upon further research, Quirvy came to the conclusion that although chatbox posts do not count towards post counts, when chatbox posts are manually deleted by staff members, they lower ones post count.
Haily constructed the page, and therefor he will be taking the fall for this disaster. Interguild Researchers, including Quirvy, Livio, Jellsprout and Canadianstickdeath believe that this further proves an earlier stated theory that everything bad is Haily's fault. Other research members, most notably Isa, are neutral, and Jazz isn't actually an Interguild Research Member, but he wishes that he was.

So because of this, I decided to run a script that would recalculate everyone's post counts to see what they would really be. However, to my surprise, most post counts went down, instead of up. The reason for this increase is because there was once a time when the chatbox added to your post count, and when that was taken off, there wasn't a recalculation like there is today. My post count in particular went down by a thousand.
Anyway, here are the results of the script. The names are in alphabetical order, and the first number represents the original post count, while the second one is the real one.
but if you manually browse the site counting a user's posts, will it still be the original number before the post count edit?
and, you should have lowered my post count to 99 so that i could celebrate my 100th post again. BUT ITS TOO LATE! Now the world will never know that the awesome Orcasaur has reached his 100th post. blah, but because im so awesome i forgive you. am i awesome or what?

This is wrong. I am a member of the Intraguild Research Department and the Interguild Research Department, not the Interguild Research Department. Why must you screw things up? The quote on the bottom is right.
Quote:
Other research members, most notably Isa, are neutral, and Jazz isn't actually an Interguild Research Member, but a supporter of the Lutrians. Dando is super awsome.

As a result of this new change, many people have had their post counts go down. This is bad for them, but the rest of us can just laugh at them:
5 biggest losers as a result of this change:
1. Haily - had 101, lost 59 posts (58.4 percent loss)
2. Livio - lost 1009 posts, total post count went down 16.1 percent
3. Cedric - He lost 302 of his 1127 posts(26.8 percent loss). He also created the Lumscat forums
4. Florida - Post count went down by 45.2 percent
5. Neofriendly - Post count went down by 26.3 percent
But some people gained from this. Winners:
1. Quirvy - post count lowered by 499, to 3999(say what you want, but I got to make a news post about reaching 4000 posts, and that's what matters in the end. Plus the only guy in front of me lost over 1000 posts)
2. Dando52 - Only lost 8 posts
3. Dando - She lost 13.5 percent of her posts, but she's still super awesome!
Hang on here. bang_jan lost posts, and he joined at October 13, 2009. This means that somewhere after that, Livio should have noticed that chatbox posts gave you posts, according to the current theory. This means that for at least 10 months, you gained a post for each chat box post - I REFUSE to believe that, and I also refuse to believe that CSD during those 10 months only made 14 chatbox posts, while I made well over 700. For additional support, Jell apparently only lost 48 posts during those 10 months.
I dunno about anything that Isa is saying, but the only thing that seems to look too odd, to me, isa that sup mus lost 2 posts. Where did they come from? Chatbox comments stopped counting as posts long before sup mus joined. Maybe something else is affecting our post count, too? And maybe that explains the 15 posts bang jan lost?
But do we at least agree that this is the current post count?
Right now I know for sure that your post count is increased when you:
1) make a new forum post
2) make a new topic
It does not go up when you post a chatbox post, post a level, video, guide, or news post that may automatically create a forum topic.
Your post count goes down when:
1) a forum post of yours is deleted
2) when posts of yours are deleted as a result of the parent topic being deleted.
3) a topic of yours is deleted Oh wait, I just looked it up and it turns out that if you're the first post of a topic, your post count doesn't go down if that topic is deleted. I really don't like how Haily coded the forums. For some reason the first post of each topic isn't logged in the forum posts database table, but instead in the topics database table.
Why should we restore the old post count, when it has already been established that they are far off, due to chatbox posts counting as posts, deleting chatbox posts removing a post from your post count, and possibly something else, too?
If Livio ran a script to count up every post made by every person, excluding the transitioned boards, why should we question that post count's accuracy, when we have nothing to say that it's inaccurate, other than some people have had their post count go down and we don't understand why?
Some people have had their post count go down and we don't understand why.
There, you said it yourself.
That's not a good reason. You want us to go back to the more inaccurate count, because something may have happened that threw the inaccurate count even farther off? We may never find out what threw off the old post count. So you just want us to keep it?
We can't tell what posts are altered or not, not what kind of posts, we don't know what triggers it, and we can't tell how much off these new numbers are.
