since it's summer, I think we should really be pushing for our site's activity. And this is actually an idea that I really wanted to do for a long time, and may even be similar to that podcast idea-- but without the podcast

Anyway, I think every week, we should post a weekly update showing the highlights of the previous week. What levels were made, maybe some tips on them, any updates on the site, any plans that mods are taking into consideration, and maybe even the top three or something funniest things that happened throughout the week.

And then maybe every once in a while make a video showing highlights to go along with it.

Seriously, that sounds like a good idea. I nice news post or something that outlines what happened over the past week. That'll help the inactive users keep up with what's going on.

Quirvy you're probably the most active user here besides me, so maybe you should do it? but of course that would mean I'd have to give you admins

I'm gonna be on vacation for about a week some time soon, but other than that, yeah, I probably could do it.

You could always just make news accessible to mods. Since most forums have it like that anyway, and mods can take turns updating it. (Sorry Quirvy)

anyway the add news stuff is pretty powerful. you can control comps and tournaments (under construction, actually) through it.

You could just assign it to specific users, like me, that way I'm not an admin, but I can still add news.

Well, what's wrong with what Dando suggested anyways? So. it's very powerful. So if jell for example abuses his news powers and creates a sprout themed hatpc comp, couldn't another mod, say, cancel that comp?

I'm pretty sure the mods can be trusted not to post giant porn pics on the front page, or start untimely comps.

I'm totally gonna start a "shockwave error" comp.

Or basically, make the staff have only one level of power? and I guess if a script is too powerful (like the username changer-- that goes through everything) then I could just make it only work when I'm logged in.

I never really understood why we have mods and admins here.  =p There are just so few people, and it's bad enough we have so much figures of authority, but two levels of it is a bit over the top. It seems to be like you make some powers admin-exclusive just to make being an admin carry more worth, as opposed to practicality.

One level of staff wouldn't be bad, since I don't think any current mod we have is untrustworthy and news posts would be the only "real" power added.

yeah, but that means that I'll also have to go to all of the pages and edit some coding (just to keep it clean incase we ever need to make a multi-level staff position in the future) so I'll do that tomorrow.

and I don't think shos needs to be a mod, and neither does jebby. not sure about Haily. I don't think he'll work on this site again, though, especially since I can code php now, and he thinks him helping me code this site was pure torture

I just now noticed that Dando has "FREAK" as her gender. Did she not fill in her gender, or did someone change her gender to something absurd, like what I did?

I don't think every Sunday is such a good idea. Regardless of the website's audience, the weekend is when the Interguild gets the most unique visitors. How about every Friday? This will give visitors a greater chance of responding to the weekly update. Possibly even create an account for those not registered.

I originally thought about putting it every Friday, but it would be kinda weird in terms of chronology because it would have to cover everything from last Saturday to that day. hmm, but yeah it would be better for certain members to do it on a friday... if we're switching to Friday then that means we should probably put one up right now.
