Knytt Stories is clearly an epic game, but the level maker isn't particularly self-explanatory. I think we'd have more interesting levels if more people were able to give it a go. Karmafest for the person who can make a guide perhaps?

Stupid Harumbai having the guts to post the same minute as me. I feel that whenever I decide to post something the rest of you should just silently wait for me to finish, and only when I've found the correct words and links, only THEN may you post.

lol, that's a karma to harumbai only to laugh at isa xD

when i have time, i'd very much like a guide as such. do you think we can import it into this site, giving credits? cuz i don't like wondering to foreign sites at random.

Absolutely. As long as we give proper credit and link back to their site, it should be all good.

Would be cool if we could make our own. And thanks, Harumbai - +karma for you.

This game has so much potential - I definitely think it should be made one of our flagship games (perhaps replacing one of the other two?).

I think we ought to get rid of all this chosen-game business, and do whatever we see fit with the games. But yeah, we should do more stuff with Knytt Stories. Before we can hold any comps, we need to get more people interested. We can do that by making it easier for people to get into the game (maybe by making a very short and easy Starters Guide) and by making more levels ourselves, so that people start to feel left out if they haven't tried them yet.

Competitions for Knytt stories will have to be pretty long term because some good levels have taken people years to make So we could start one now ending this time next year.

The problem with competitions is that people tend to start on their levels in the last weekend. So we could make a year-long competition, but people still won't finish on time or they will come with tiny levels.

And the level maker for KS isn't that complicated. I figured most out by myself. The problem is that I can't get the world editor to work, so I have to directly use the World.ini file to manually change everything.

I've just briefly been playing through the level that I linked to above. This games really is amazing - you can customise virtually anything and do things that you could never do in HATPC (barring the unique trap system that HATPC has). With some practice and art skills, anyone could make their own adventure/platform game with this level editor. This game needs more attention - it certainly shouldn't be in the 'Other Games' section.

I added it there because the game isn't a mere Platformer. It is a full quest creator, being on the level of Zelda Classic and Lunar Magic. I think I suggested putting those three in their own category once, but that idea was rejected.

Speaking of which, I moved the topic.

I'd also like to add that for a game to be chosen, it has to receive public attention. N and FR2 did that for a while, unfortunately Knytt has yet to become a popular game here in terms of levels created.

Again that is because there are roughly 10-15 active members at any one time on this forum and since it takes so long to make levels we may only end up with one a month which isn't great. The best way to increase activity probably would be to have a size limited competition, like the best level of less than 50 screens because then it gives people a chance to make a smallish level as a first try.

No it is Drakkan's level, but I was a prominant level maker at that time. There are other signs with other names on them. I think Earthbound was one probably chironex and LPchip are there too, I'm not sure though.

Well, now N and FR2 have resided into nothingness, let's try kicking one out and replacing it with this bad boy and hold some comps to get the activity going! This game is just too perfect for this site not to promote.
