We need some more active threads, and if they help us get to know each other even more, all the better. This one is where you can share some of the interesting or eccentric things that you do. What do I mean by that? Well, I'll use myself as an example. I have two odd things I do that spring to mind.
Have you ever read one of my posts, and then read it again later and saw that something very minor has changed about it? Like I just swapped one word for another, or changed the sentence structure a bit? Well, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and I always try to proofread my posts before I post them, but sometimes I think of ways to improve my post after I post it, so... I just edit it in. No matter how small the edit is. I know the changes are too petty for anybody but me to care about, but I do it anyway. Nobody's mentioned it to me so far, but I've been doing it for four years so I'm sure it hasn't gone unnoticed.
My perfectionism causes another eccentricity; when I'm making a HatPC video, I reload the level after every death. Why, you ask? Well, I like having all three hearts. It looks tidier and more professional to me. I only started doing that when I stopped using Hypercam (and lost the watermark that covers up the hearts), which I believe was in the O Green World walkthrough. You can watch any of my videos from then on and bask in the three-hearted goodness. Yes, my perfectionism is so strong that even when I was filming the Snowflake of Doom walkthrough and dying hundreds of times, I'd still quit the level each time and retype "cavetester" so that the finished video would have all three hearts, something that nobody would notice but me. If that doesn't scream "you have problems", I don't know what does.
EDIT: Actually, I guess the Lethal Defense walkthrough was when I switched from Hypercam to Camstudio, and I am missing a heart in it, but since it was a new program I wasn't anticipating there being no watermark. Either that or I wasn't as crazy back then. There's a heart missing in my section of the Midnight IV walkthrough, too, but that one was intentional; it was to maintain continuity from when Quirvy presses the restart button in his section. hearts r srs bsns.
Anyway, I'm sure you guys are less weird than me, but please share some of your own odd/interesting behaviours. I'm sure everyone has at least one. | | canadianstickdeath |

"it was to maintain continuity from when Quirvy presses the restart button in his section. hearts r srs bsns."
You're telling me, you reloaded the level TWICE, every time? That's kinda crazy, lol.
I restarted for my level max-point videos (no username typing, though), but there was a practical reason for that -- you needed to be able to see the score at the end, and subtracting the score from the beginning of the video is annoying. But that's gotta be annoying to have to type the name every time, right? I mean, I've done walkthroughs for levels with hearts near the beginning, and... well yeah.
Wait, I'm supposed to put something weird about me here? Ummm.... | | Jorster |

I do that first thing too. I don't worry too much about it here, but on other forums a this message was last edited by jellsprout on ... message will appear at the bottom of my post, making me worry people think I edited more than just style and grammar.
As for that second thing, I avoid it by not filming the top of the screen. I purposely start the filming from beneath it so people won't notice the hearts jumping from 3 to 1 to 2 constantly. I did film that area in the HatIC walkthough videos, but to seem more superior I restarted the entire level each time I lost a heart. Later I realized my scores would also reset when I did that and if I had more than three hearts those would also disappear. In the later levels I stopped caring and simply kept on playing.

Are we talking about real life or internet tendencies?: Either way, in real life, if I lose the little rubber cover to one my earbuds, I replace them. It's too annoying to stick sharp metal in my ear. Very few non family people IRL know that I've taken karate for 9 years and know tons of odds and ends of the japanese language, I'll probably achieve black belt-dom in March (don't **** w/ me). I am an overall messy person, and I love cats, yet out of those 2 qualities, I am hideously self-conscious of how much cat hair is on my clothes (gotta love them lint rollers). And I've sorta developed my own accent. Lately I've noticed that I rarely ever pronounce the letters "t" or "h" in words, unless it largely effects the pronounciation.
As for online/technology: I often try to vary the name structure of my levels, sometimes standard nouns/adjectives won't do it, and I like to get creative. Occasionally on Neopets, I'll dedicate my gallery's shopkeeper/message to some film/piece of music and make him quote it/look like it (kudos if you can guess what it's homaging to now). And I respond to every auto-generated video approval message I get, with "cool".
Beat dat fools. (I'm not that weird though, it seems)

I (think I) have the most avatars on Neo of everybody on the Interguild but when it comes to actually playing I am probably one of the poorest (70k).

Wrong Soccerboy, after draining some yesterday, my in-cash total remains at about 46k. My highpoint was 900k, but I drained that too. I got 181 avatars. How many do you have Soccerboy? I'm kinda afraid to hear the answer.

It only took me like two attempts to make that one, so it isn't that crazy. The Snowflake of Doom one definitely is. I did consider just filming without the whole top bar, but I dunno, that kinda seemed like cheating to me. And I film things in single takes so hiding the points and hearts isn't really necessary anyway.
Anyway, I think the maximum amount of Neopoints I've ever had at once was 8000, so yeah... I mostly just used Neopets for the forums, and HatPC. I think I won a Battledome thing once, though. Yay me. And Yaya, I always thought that maybe you didn't know the message was automated or something. =p
Also, another odd thing: when making caves back when I was on Windows XP, I had to have the windows in this order from left to right on my taskbar: CaveMaker, Cave Submit Page, HatPC window. If they weren't in that order than I'd close them and reopen them to be in that order. The idea was it was the progression of testing a cave (making, submitting, playing) and I had to have it illustrated sequentially for some reason. Windows 7 has a funky new kind of taskbar so I don't care anymore. I'm also probably the only person who still uses the original Cavemaker. For the record, CSD, I do think yours is really cool.
Anyway, I guess I'm the weirdest person here after all. Also, I may have mild OCPD. | | Silver |

NOT true. I'm the weirdest person on here and everyone knows that. In fact, I'm so much of a weirdo actually calling me one is a compliment. Seriously, call me a weirdo and I'll be happy.
Weird facts aside from that, and a crazy imagination, include: extreme habit of biting fingernails, picking up almost everything interesting from the ground, punching walls every so often, acting like a cat, being a fussbucket, and an extreme addiction to the Nintendo DS. And Pokemon. And cats!
Also, I don't have all that good of a memory. I forget small things like "wobble your tooth like this to make it come out faster", "stop biting your fingernails, its less hygenic than licking a toliet bowl (o.o)", and "the Pokemon golems Regice, Regirock and Registeel".
...does anyone here know the Unfinished Symphony from Massive Attack? I love that song. It rocks!
I never woulda guessed, Yaya! Does this mean we can get along better now? | | Harumbai |

Well I have some very OCD things as well, when I put down the bathmat it has to be parallel to the room with an equal space on either side and no wrinkles in it...
When I'm typing a word and I get a letter wrong I often delete the whole word and start again, it just seems easier...
The weirdest thing I think to do with HatPC I do is sometimes I spend ages looking at the code of a level and then don't play it because I had more fun just working out what to do.

NEVER tell Shos this, unless you want to spend ages looking at Imperio.
I don't know anything weird about my behaviour, to be honest - I got a lot of allergies, but that's about it. I'm very skilled at procrastinating, and I'll start writing a guide on how to procrastinate tomorrow. | | soccerboy13542 |

Hey! I do that occasionally, and i spent AGES studying imperio. I ended up getting de-motivated
I would frequently spend hours looking at my old caves and trying to write a good description for them ; i couldn't stand a cave without even a briefest of descriptions. And i ALWAYS play the cave i'm looking at in my head. Whenever i watch a compilation of caves, i would search for them and look at those levels myself. xd | | Yaya |

Ooh, I agree with you, Ck. Nowadays, I always feel compelled to put a +1 paragraph long backstory about the level I'm entering. I wonder if anybody actually reads them...

Forgot to mention... I am a really experienced hummer, I've been humming all my life. I can imitate some difficult video game music-tracks like Ho-oh's Theme - and it feels really easy to me. I've been making up my own little tunes as well.
Maybe this is why I'm also obsessed with music and instruments. I always play music when I'm on the computer. | | Isa |
