The last time I saw the minecraft server working properly was on Wednesday night. But our server's been down through all of Thursday, and today it's still down. So I was thinking that something serious seems to have happened to Brohoster. ALL of their servers are down, and you can't even connect to brohoster's website. You'd think they'd send an email out, but they haven't even updated their facebook page about it. And now I see some rumors going around that Brohoster is gone forever. So far it's looking like those rumors are true.

It looks like Brohoster and ClubUpTime were the same thing: http://clubuptime.com/
I've also come across stories of severe internal conflict within the company, how the workers hated what their boss was doing, and how they've essentially stopped paying the bills, leading to them getting unplugged.

Now we have to decide what we want to do here. We could wait the 4-6 weeks for a backup to be available and then start using another service. But with summer ending so quickly I think it might just be in our best interest to get a new server entirely and start from scratch.

I guess we should have looked up why the price of a server suddenly went up when we upgraded it to 12 ppl.

Anyways, I guess we should find a way to contact them to see if the info is available.

Seriously, they had to be away at a time like this. Isn't there something that says something about things going wrong at the worst possible time?

We will update this page when backups are able to be made available to clients as we have them transferring to external backup servers right now.
But this will apparently take 4-6 weeks to complete, and like I said, with summer ending so quickly (I go back to school on August 22nd) it may be better to just start from scratch than to wait for a backup. And yet, we should probably wait for either bmw or isa to get back before making a move.

because anything named foohy.net couldn't have possibly been all that great?

So what do you guys think about the idea of starting a new server from scratch? Do any of you think we should get a backup at all costs? Even if we end up without a server for a few weeks?

I HAVEN'T been informed in emails. NOTHING.

I suggest moving to another server ASAP, those backups may very well not be coming up. Everyone link us to your favorite server provider. Livio and I should discuss funding for that later on.

I'm sure there are tons of people nowadays who are looking for brohoster replacements. You could probably find some discussions about good replacement hosts. Otherwise, I'm really ignorant about hosts.

Yes, Brohoster are back up for a week to allow people to get there files back. After that it's gone.

And, I personally would like to start from scratch again, It might get me back into minceraft.

TBH, even if Brohster does stay I don't want to be customers for them. The seem to be an extremly corrupt company. Besides, they only have one employee (all the others have gone to make a new website with former CEO JWJ).

So what are we going to do? Take the old map with us or creating a new one? If we go with the new map, we can do our idea of splitting the map into two. Simply build a wall at spawn and everything at one side can be build using cheats and everything on the other side can't.

Regardless of whether we're going to keep the old stuff, we should still take this opportunity to start downloading the server backup. Just in case.

As much as I'd hate to lose the epic world we made so far, the excitement that comes with starting from scratch sure is tempting. I've got plenty of ideas on how we could set things up next time. Maybe I'll start a topic about it one of these days.

To All of our Bros,

I would like to start by offering my apologies to all of the customers of Brohoster and Club UpTime.  We realize that the past few days have been a frustrating experience for all of you.

As many of you are aware, Club UpTime has had to close its doors, and an unfortunate side effect of that is that its subsidiary company Brohoster has been dissolved as well.

The remaining ex-staff of Brohoster along with a co-owner of Club UpTime have been working around the clock for the past three days to provide a solution for customers to retrieve their data.  We have worked with SoftLayer to come to an agreement that allows us to open the public ports for all of our servers so that customers may log into their old services and retrieve their data.  We have agreed upon a window of 72 hours for this access, so ask that you take advantage of this time.

Refunds will be issued to all customers who have already paid their invoice for the current month, and will be prorated if paid quarterly, semi-annually or annually.  Please be patient as this process may take up to 4-6 weeks to complete.

I wish to thank the following people who have gone above and beyond to stick with us while in restoring these services as our primary goal has been to ensure our customers were taken care of:

Andrew McWatters – System Administrator / Tech Support (Brohoster)
Tyler Salwierz - System Administrator / Tech Support (Brohoster)
Terri Detlor – Tech Support (Brohoster)
Melodi – Community Management (Brohoster)
Hexxeh - Facepunch Forums
Brian – Silent Partner / VP (Club UpTime)

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the above mentioned individuals who have worked so hard to have your server access restored are also reorganizing into a brand new company which plans to offer the same high quality services and customer service.  We will announce further information regarding this transition in the coming week.

We will have full support options available with the launch of the new company; however, in the meantime we will do our best to answer any questions we can via the standard channels of communication we have access to such as WebHostingTalk, FacePunch, FaceBook and IRC.

Sincerely,

Larry Detlor
General Manager Brohoster

72 hours.
