Well, Jazz thought of this and wanted me to post it for some reason, but how about we have a comp for Minecraft rollercoasters on the server? This could be a fun comp considering we have a few rollercoaster lovers on the server.

I have changed the subject, so just come up with ideas for Minecraft comps for the server, okay guys?

hey CSD suggested this as an IO category. You know, we're way overdue for a new comp. But seeing as the server needs filling, I don't think it'd be a good idea to start filling it with rollercoasters.

How about for the next comp we hold some kind of buildings comp, where you have to build some kind of building (as opposed to a statue, rail, or whatever). Or we could have it be a freeform comp where you could build whatever you want.

And then the next mc comp could be rollercoasters.

Actually, that sounds very appealing... yes, that would do nicely.
Anything planned right now that the competition would interfere with?  Or do you think it's too soon after the IO?

So we're gonna start a new Minecraft comp soon. How long do you think we should make it last? I'm guessing with activity being as low as it is lately, maybe 3 or 4 weeks.

Isn't Saiyan pronounced like 'Sigh-yan'?

*totally unrelated*

Memorial comp? That could be good. Symmetrical stuff is sure to win that.

Yeah, we're gonna start it real "soon".  I say a month is a good time.

You know, we should do holiday related comps!  Maybe this one should be Halloween related, next month's Thanksgiving related, and December's Christmas/Winter themed.  Like?

those were some of the very first comps we've held and they weren't all that interesting.

Bmw if you don't start this comp by tomorrow, I will.

Fine, I'll type it up. *grumble*

lately most of the activity here is about minecraft guys, and since this is a p2p game and I don't have it(and few others too), I'd ask that the comp won't be so long, so that we can participate in the next comp when it happens not so far to the future..

sorry to be the party crasher, but adding a p2p game to the site wasn't such an amazing move the way I see it, and it's being overused lol

And is there a problem with new active members and increased activity in general, even if not everybody has it?  I agree, I would feel left out if I didn't have Minecraft, but shouldn't you suffer for something as awesome as the Interguild?   It's brought in 3 fully active members, and a few others that don't post as much, and I would say that that is a good thing.  If we really pushed it, it could bring in more members and it makes the Interguild look better, IMO.  It shows that we care enough to put money into the site and that we can unite and achieve what we want when we want it. (Look at the first few months of paying for the server.)

That's your opinion, I know, but I respectfully disagree.

I don't disapprove of minecraft you know. I approve it happily - it brings new members and raises alot of discussion and has gotten us many new levels. But, as you said, I do feel pretty much left out. This post is the only one I posted in MC topic I can remember. There are dozens of threads in this site that if I see them unread, I open them just to close the window, see, because there's no point in reading them, I can't do anything. remember my IO team? *nobody* except for guyguy had MC there. and look what happened

I'm a young student you know, it's not that I have that much money that I can spend on random games; and besides, it'll take me hours to learn, play, and stuff till I create something real. do you know how much time I have lately? this game consumes hours of gameplay, which I don't have. the most I played in a game lately was Epic war 5, I think, for which I invested around 2-3 hours over a week's period. that really isn't worth the money for me. If I recall correctly it's around 15 USD for a month? for that amount, I can buy a FF subscription, and download terabytes of games, movies, songs, etc,. so yea, I'm not planning on paying real money for internet games. not enough time and motivation to make it worth it. and that'e before semester starts...
btw, you do realize I'm posting from work, right?

anyways, what I wanted to say was that you should have the comp, but not have it for too long, you know. all-games comps are just as suitable for MC entries. and in these, people like csd, yaya, me, sup, dunno who else - can participate too..

edit:
I just noticed that the other post I wrote here was -ed. It does not concern me; but I want to collect your attention to the fact that it has THREE votes. that means, someone out there thinks that way too...

It might also mean that someone thinks that you don't deserve to lose 2 karma over your opinion.

Anyways I disagree with shos because even though you're right about pay to play games, there's shortening the length of the minecraft comp wouldn't really have an effect on anything. As Isa already said, we haven't had any comps at all going on since the IO, shortening this comp wouldn't change anything, unless you want to press us to make more non-minecraft comps, but you can do that at the same time as this one, and to be honest, it's the school year, most comps fail during the school year. Even if I can't participate in the comps (nor would I have the time to if I could), I can still at least appreciate seeing screenshots of their creations and stuff like that.

I didn't agree with you Shos, I just thought like Bmwsu's post, your's was an opinion and -1ing legit opinions is kinda rude.

I agree with Quirvy here. Just because there's something on the site you can't participate in, doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. It's like driving; it sure is awesome, but a few people can't/won't use it. It's still part of society. I do feel left out occasionally, but I think it's great that MC has renewed some long gone extra activity in the site. And it's still fun to look at screenshots an stuff.

Minecraft comps are A-OK with me as long we still put out a comp for more traditional (by that, I mean free, lol) games occasionally. I mean MC has taken a toll on the HATPC community and such, but where on Earth and Neopia combined could we take the game from there? Water drain 2.0?

Keep in mind, I don't flat out refuse to play MC or anything due to snobby standards or time constraints (actually, it'd make a great procrastination tool). I just don't have the cash to play monthly, and I'm near-positive my parents will never pay for me to play an online game again after I made them pay for my RS members 4 of the 5 years I played (I made my parents roughly spend $240 on me playing Runescape/THE SHAME!)

Yaya, Minecraft isn't a monthly fee, it's a one-time fee of 15 bucks.

well I'll go from the end to top

firstly, I mislead you, yes, I thought just like you. so isa, you buy the game and then you can play it however much you want?..that seems really wierd, because one-time fees are usually very easily cheated through, as in, people get the hacked version of the game and play for free. I'll do some searching when I have some spare time(that'll be on Monday next week, remind me) and if I can get a hacked version, I'll get yaya to use it and, why not, play it even myself a tad

secondly, yaya & quirvy, don't get me wrong. I'll quote:
'Yaya' said:

agreed. totally.

"Minecraft comps are A-OK with me as long we still put out a comp for more traditional (by that, I mean free, lol) games occasionally." likewise.

Here's when I disagree. see, we haven't had any comps at all since the IO; and this is the first one. so I thought, that starting from this one, we will get back to our regular once in a short while comp routine. therefore, making a long MC comp would make the left outside feeling last longer, and postpone the other comps. comps are usually also a motivating factor to make levels; therefore the more comps the better - but hosting two comps parallel may cause people fall inbetween, trying to participate in both, and having not enough time to make two entries or something.

hey, of course it's the summer and activity is lowered(yours especially, by the way ), but it doesn't matter. it's not that I want more non-minecraft comps; I want non-specific comps perhaps; we know that our community has members who participate only in one- or two-games action only. so if we host a multi-game comps, it'll suit. I don't remember when I participated in a comp lately at all, even before the IO. but I'm motivated.

on another note - and quote&answer in another topic - how's college?

There is a free trial on the website.

Also I think there is a free pirated version called minecraft free, but I don't think you can do multiplayer.

The $15 buys you an account, not the game. You can log in with your account anywhere, either in the browser version on the web, or you can download a launcher.

Actually, in Isreal it's $15.00, it's $21.85 for here in the USA ;-;  , but it's worth the money, and my friend, who is actually Fbqdarkeevee, pirated Minecraft for another friend (they are both internet friends), so I could probably get DE (short for Dark Eevee) to pirate it to you guys, but I couldn't give you the link on this site, because I think that would get me banned, so I will give you my Chatroll (it's a chat service, so you can just make an account for it with your e-mail, a password, and a username you can change.
