I feel like this wasn't gone over enough. WorldEdit is a big thing that is quite important to the server. I think that you shouldn't be punished for crashing a server if you didn't mean to, and if you used it well (Making a massive, useless block of a random materials careless and dumb, clearing out a building space or something like that is using it well). If you use worldedit alot, and are working on a big project, it's quite easy to crash a server by mistake. But everyone is going against crashing the server, because they just don't like not being able to go on the server for a small amount once in a while. As for the person who did the worldedit, they have to pay the hefty price of losing worldedit for a while or even losing it altogether. I'm pretty sure crashing the server is a minor inconvenience, kind of like dying in survival, and the penalty for it shouldn't be so severe, especially since not many people go on the server much anyways. Additionally, some people may be nervous to make a large project or somethingthat will help the server grow just because they know they might lose worldedit for some time. Like I sort of am, because if I crash the server 1 more time I lose it for an entire month, with the current system. I think that as long as you report what you did ASAP after you did it, there should be a small or even no punishment. | | jazz |

Punishment is there just to enforce the rules. That way it stops people from abusing it. | | krotomo |

Yeah, but crashing a server with Worldedit doesn't mean you're abusing you power. WorldEdit is so unprediactble and it's very hard to tell if something will crash a server or not until it's already happened. Doing stuff like creating the Redstone Testing Area that I crashed the server making wasn't exactly abuse of my tower. Abusing your powers is making ugly boxes all over the place, not creating a space to build on or making a big castle. Just because you crash the server using worldedit doesn't mean you used it badly. Sometimes it's needed. | | Kooler |

I don't think people should be perma-banned from WE, I think they should have to wait 2 months before they can ask to have WE again, then they will have a clean slate if they are excepted.

2 months is a VERY long time. If you're a regular player who likes building large projects(me), and you accidentally crash the server a few times (me), 2 months is a very though punishement for not even breaking the rules much at all. Like I said, worldedit is so unpredictable and there are so many variables that it's almost impossible to tell if the server won't take what you're doing. The only way you should be punished for things like this is if you do something careless and pretty much stupid. Otherwise this is just a bad system the keeps the server from growing. | | Thomas |

I hate to join the minecraft discussions here but apparently wordedit can easily crash the server and that sounds like other people are unable to go on until it has been rebooted. Having a server that crashes frequently will keep that server from growing. | | krotomo |

It's not like people crash the server three times a day with WorldEdit, it only happens about once every 2 or 3 weeks! The amount of server crashes the IG server has had is anything but frequent. | | jazz |

Just keep the punishments. We need something to keep us in check. | | krotomo |

Yeah, of course we do. I'm not saying to completely remove the punishments; I'm saying it should be changed a bit because the current system is badly thought out and unfair in some cases. | | jazz |

And how is it unfair? | | krotomo |

It's unfair because in worldedit it's so easy to make a mistake- just a simple typing error can crash a server, and have these consequences for such a small mistake is unfair, especially when nothing very bad actually happened.
I personally think it's already clear this system needs some serious improvements. | | Shavey Dave |

Learn not to make typing errors then. How is it unfair? Two months is very long. You only got that punishmennt because of what you have done.

This is proof you have no clue what I'm saying. I never even got punished for two months. I got punished for one week. The only thing that has to do with "2 Months" is Kooler's suggestion. You clearly haven't even read over the system for WorldEdit punishing, and you are still trying to fight what I'm saying? As for the Unfair part, I think that it's very unfair that I lost WorldEdit for 1 week after crashing the new server only two times. Think about it, the first time was the Redstone Testing Area, which I thought would help the server greatly (which it did) and the second time I was testing out my worldedit commands with Kooler, over the span of two months! And because of that, I lost worldedit for 1 week. I haven't done much wrong at all. I havent done anything I would ever think would do harm to the server. That's what I'm saying is unfair! WorldEdit is so unpredictable and so easy to mess up with that having such severe punishments like the ones we have right now is unfair! Maybe if most of you were decently active on the server, and used WorldEdit alot, you would have some understanding of this. Additionally, I said one word, which is "unfair", and you guys are objecting to what I'm saying because of that ONE WORD I forgot to justify very well. If that's the best thing you can say against what I'm saying about WorldEdit, then maybe the system really should be changed.

Doesn't it display the size of the selection when you select it with Worldedit?

I agree with Kro. As a user of WE, even though I haven't crashed the server, I know how even just a small typo with the item id, or the area of a cylinder or whatever, how easy it is to lag/crash the server. I think it's a bit too harsh for making some typo's, or just making something, (like testing) which is large but benefits the server. | | Darvince |

Seriously? I really don't see how you can make typos on such short sentences. And you should always check the thing you are typing before you submit it. | | Yuggy |

If you type quickly, its quite easy to accidentally type 52 instead of 25 or something. | | FlashMarsh |

You should be checking what you type. I'm sorry, but I have no sympathy for anyone who loses WorldEdit. | | krotomo |

Although people may be careless when making a typing error, it still shouldnt be enough to lose your powers altogether. And how about when you are making something large that crashes the server, like the Redstone Testing Area? It's not very easy to tell when a certain selection will crash the server or not, and as long as the person posts that they accidentally crashed the server, why should they be punished? And about when you make typing errors, when you are making large projects and need to WorldEdit alot of things in you go so fast that you forget to check over what you type, and even if you see your error, it's probably only milliseconds before your other hand instinctively presses "enter". | | Yuggy |

I think one of the main problems with worldedit, is it is quite easy to select a very large area, without knowing exactly how big it is. | | jazz |

You should double-check the selection before hand. Read the coords of the two points. Double check your pasting. Negligence should not be an excuse. | | |
