Time to revive this. I've done a few balancing tweeks:

-You now need to choose a capital as starting area. This also replaces the initial production. You will just have the production of your capital to start with, but this should be enough.
-People can join after the game has started, but only if there is still a capital free.
-If you are eliminated, you can rejoin if there is still a capital free.
-Ocean areas now cost twice as much to steal from another player. So while they aren't part of a country and so won't be able to double their production, they are better defensively, costing as much to steal as an area from which you already own the entire country.
-Wars and alliances are removed entirely. Instead you can steal any owned zone without declaring war, so watch out. And you can trade with anyone in the game. However, soft alliances can still be done. You can make agreements with other players to help each other, these just won't be binding.
-Trades now have a delay. If you trade resources, the other player won't receive it until 2 turns later. If you trade on turn 10, the other player will receive on the start of turn 12.
-You can now trade zones. These are traded without delay.

In addition, I have a new Google Docs spreadsheet that I intend to open up to more people. So more people will be able to update, hopefully allowing us to make this last longer.

New turns will start Sundays and Wednesdays at 00:00 Interguild time.

To make use of the Dubloon system, everybody who enters this will automatically get 30 Dubloons, plus another 10 for every player that gets eliminated while you are in the game and an additional 50 if you win the game.
If you join during Round 0, you also get an additional 10 Dubloons early joiners bonus.

Round 1 will start Sunday 15 February at 00:00 Interguild Time. So pick your capital and colour it in.

EDIT: Can you explain the process of trading in a little more detail?

Say I and Quirvy both have an income of 6.
On turn 2 we both buy one zone. So we are both left with 1 resource. I decide to send my resource to Quirvy. So I have 0 resources left, Quirvy 1.
On turn 3 we both get our new income of 7 resources, so I have 7 and Quirvy 8. We again buy one zone, leaving me with 2 resources and Quirvy with 3.
On turn 4 we both have an income of 8. In addition, Quirvy now gets the 1 resource I send him. So I now have 10 resources and Quirvy 12.

If Quirvy now decides to send me 2 resources back, I get it on turn 6.

Added HB to the map as light green in Berlin. I'm not entirely sure if Doktorspiele comes from there, but it is the capital of Germany.

I think that Belarus should have a different color on the country map. Right now it looks like part of Poland because the colors are almost exactly the same.
