------------------------------------------------ WHAT TO DO WHEN THE SERVER IS DOWN ------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, I had checked it Soccer, and we moved the Great Mall there a while ago, and I think it was Kro or Mutts who had me put it there, and I didn't even notice that it cut into your house. :/
Okay guys, what do you think of making a new survival world?
I don't really want to reset the current world because there was so much work put into it, but what if we made a second survival world, connected by portals to the first one? You'd be able to explore and gather resources from one world and bring them to the other one? We could even call it "FrontierSurvival" or something like that. And then whenever we run out of resources, we could just reset the second world, rather than resetting the main one.
I was talking to Haily about this idea, and I started thinking that maybe we don't need to make an entire new world just to give people access to more resources. Perhaps we could just expand the world border and build portals to bring people out to the frontier or something.
But I think my favorite idea is to just build a rail that will take people out there. That way we get the sense of connectedness that portals just don't give, and it helps add more infrastructure to help the survival world grow properly. I think it'd be worth it if the mods just spawn all of the items that we'll need to build such a rail, almost like a fancy government project, because the whole point is to help people get access to resources, and it just wouldn't be worth it if the project just drained more resources.
No, we shouldn't use mods. If everyone works together on this rail, it'll be done in a flash. It should be a symbol of our amazing cooperation, not our desperation for new resources.
It doesn't matter what he meant. That's beside the point. We shouldn't be spawning anything in; whether the moderators spawn them in or mods/plugins do.
Alright then, so who wants to help out with the rail project? We'll need to determine a good design for the rail that is (1) safe from mobs, (2) looks good, (3) is easy to use, and (4) isn't terribly expensive to make, since this rail will be going for miles.
A lot of the rails in creative have you pushing buttons and stuff to make the rails go, but ever since that update that allows you to push rails forward, much in the same way that you can go forward on a boat, we don't really need that anymore. This would also allow us to make stops in the rail that don't require you to get out of your minecart to continue. Just put two blocks of deactivated powered rails and you'll stop when you go over them, but you can continue by just pressing forward.
Also, where will the rails go? I can imagine one rail going to that town that's near Spawn, but I'm not all that familiar with some of the farther places on survival. It'd be nice if we could make a map-wall at Spawn, similar to the one that we have at Creative's spawn.
If we're talking about a rail to a fresh place for untouched caves, we should just use the one for the iron "farm". It goes far out and already there. If we want to expand it or something, then I have more than enough of anything we could need (That's why all the caves are dry, suckers! /jk ).
Also, pushing buttons at minecart stations is still superior largely because you can chose your own destination. Like one button for north, south, east, and west.
I'm not sure I get what you mean. I thought the point of the button was to just push your cart forward, but you can just do that yourself by holding the up arrow key. Or do you mean you want several different rail ends so that you can get on a rail that takes you to wherever you want to go?
We should also probably advertise some of these farms more. I know someone suggested making a bunch of signs by the new map in survival's spawn that say where the big attractions are. It'd also be nice to see signs leading you to that rail.
Well the iron farm really isn't worth your time (no offense Quirvy), but I don't think we really have many public farms. What I wanted to do is make a ton of giant farms around the enderman farm, due to the fact that it's a void, meaning that you have as much room as you need and complete creative control.
But what I mean is that you can have multiple destinations from one starting point using buttons.
The server was down all day today, but it's up again now. This was a pretty serious crash, as we couldn't even connect to the machine. I uninstalled Thomas' HorseTP plugin because I'm worried that all of the null pointers finally caught up to us.
None taken. The iron farm is only meant to be used if you're going to be AFK for a while and you. I didn't put much effort into it because it didn't need much effort to be put into it.
I actually sort of like your first idea. Like if we had a frontier world that got reset every 1-3 days, so if you ever just wanted to have fun exploring there you could. But if we were to do that, I feel like we'd have to do some other stuff with it to prevent it from being exploited, or to at least make it risky to go there. Like at the end of each "cycle", if you're still inside of the frontier world, you die and lose everything on you. And if you die at all, any time, you respawn in normal survival and lose all of your items for good. And the only way to get out is by making a nether portal or something similar. I feel like that has the potential to be pretty cool and actually fun. But it would probably be complicated to get to work, and the impression that I get is that no one was really interested in the frontier idea to begin with.
But I think it would be cool to do something like that.
I updated the maps at Survival spawn to include a guide of different locations. The maps are divided into the standard grid, with letters on the top and numbers on the side. Each map is divided into four sections to make specific locating much easier.
So far I have listed:
-Spawn Town Map-
Livio's House
Teo's House
My House
My Farm
Mymop's House
South Spawn Crossing
Soccerboy's House
Train Station
-World Map (I really don't know many places on the world map, please add noteworthy places if you can)-
Spawn
Crab Island
Only add things that are on the maps, and try to avoid adding things that are not important, like the locations of obscure, small, barely developed villages. The main village should probably be marked on the world map section of the guide.
