If you look on the top navigation bar, "Guides & Tutorials" has been replaced with "Blogs & Guides". The Blogs system is meant to replace the old articles/guides system. The way that it works is that everyone has their own blog on the site, and you can use it to post about any Interguild-related topic. For example, you could choose to write about your favorite levels of the year or why everyone should try Knytt Stories or how Teo_pl's levels are underrated, or you can write a guide on how to use a new glitch you just found in HATPC.

You'll notice that to the left side of the Blog index, there's something called "Lists of Noteworthy Blog Posts". These lists are maintained by the staff, and they're really like categories, except that "categories" imply that everything must belong to a category, and that's not true here. These lists contain only quality posts, as deemed by the staff. Right now they only contain lists of guides, as carried over from the old article system, but just know that they won't be limited to those. However, for navigational and promotional purposes, all guide-related lists show up automatically in the top bar's drop-down menu.

On the technical side, blogs are just forum topics in disguise. So this means that right now you can't have blogs posted by multiple people. But I'm not done with this system just yet. I'm just making it live because the way I've worked on it was kinda reckless and I've gotten to the point that it would be cleaner to just open the system to you guys and close the old system. Along with multiple author support, I also want to make a system where you could save drafts of blog posts before submitting them. This would be very useful for if you're writing a guide collaboratively with someone, or if you just need some place to save your work-in-progress.

Handling the whole draft idea is very simple, Livio: All you have to do is make an option to submit blogs privately or publicly. Anyone who needs to save their work in progress only needs to set it as private, submit it, then come back to it later and make it public when its ready. I'd think that would save you a lot of trouble, and there are more uses for it than just acting as a draft system.

Anyway, having blogs is a neat idea. Don't expect them all to be Interguild related, though...

I was just about to make a blog post about my almost-record on Minesweeper (got 107.551, my record is 107.002), but then I noticed that Livio told me to write in the Random Chat instead, lol.

lol, but wait, technically that's a game, so shouldn't we allow such blogs? Even if the game isn't featured on the site?

Making blogs public of private isn't as simple as you may think. Remember that blogs are just forum topics in disguise, so I'll have to go through a bunch of pages (such as the forum boards, the recent posts box, topic pages, blog pages) and make sure private blogs don't appear unless you have the privilege to see them. In this case the simplest way to code it would be to save the posts somewhere else and only allow its authors to see it.

And besides "draft" is just a name I'm using. It's not like I'm gonna save a ton of drafts of the same post like how wikipedia does it. It'll be just like what you suggested where the user can go and make changes when they want. The biggest point is that it's saved somewhere else.
