Welcome to the Interguild's Video Archive! This is a database of all of the videos that our members have made. While we do not provide a way for you to directly upload videos onto our site, we let users upload them to their own accounts on video sites such as Youtube or Google Video. We then embed the videos onto here so that you can find them all in one place.
Livio you should schedule a time for all of us to follow you onto the server and join you in other tour videos...
Yeah, that'd be great! I would really like to get a voice chat recorded so that the server tours can have a co-host, and I imagine setting up such a system will also help us with getting started with that podcast idea.
I'm also thinking of releasing a new server tour video every Friday or Saturday, just to keep myself in a routine of uploading them.
I'd like to do that with you, Livio. We could get on Skype or something and talk about what we're seeing. I haven't been on the server in a long time, so it could be like that podcast...I ask you questions about built stuff and you answer. I'm thinking we could do with opinions on the encountered things as well.
Sounds awesome. First, we'll have to share skype accounts, but what I'm wondering is how can I record from my mic as well as everyone else's voices, in addition to what I'm seeing on the screen? We might have to a separate voice chat software. I'll start looking into it now.
Teamspeak and Mumble are cool.
If we do do that, I will be recording as well.
Yes. We should definitely try using Teamspeak or Mumble next time. Isa and I just tried recording a tour and we ended up recording my mic in Audacity and Isa's chat in hypercam. Plus there's a ton of background noise from us hitting keys and my laptop fan being loud. I believe Mumble has features for cancelling out that noise, at least when it's sure that you're not talking.
Although, I also seriously need to find a new video recorder. After a certain amount of time recording, hypercam's avi files will become corrupted and unplayable, and getting around that is a huge pain. I'm considering buying Fraps, which allows me to record from both my speakers and my mic at the same time, but that program is $40 USD, and I don't have much money right now. I also want to try using the free trial to record a chat and see how it comes out (the trial limits you to 30-second recordings, however).
There's a good torrent of Fraps on Pirate Bay... or at least I'm told... <_<
I almost want to brag about my fantastic computer which is super quiet. Also, thankfully, background noise isn't too high with the keyboard and mouse, even though they are both loud. With 3 people talking, though, there will be less time where there is no one talking.
I just checked the voice options for both TS and Mumble, and they both have push-to-talk, continuous, and detect for voice transmission. I also did a Google check in about 5 seconds, and it looks like Mumble is favored over TS.
Anyway, as for recording, I cannot recommend anything I use because I run Ubuntu. I will probably use Audacity for my voice and recordMyDesktop for the others.
