I originally rendered both a day and night map, but the day map was huge enough alone, so I didn't upload it. Plus, there just wasn't much to see on the night map.
This was done using mcmapDZ, and the downside is that we have to download the world and then run this program on it which will render the images, and then upload them to the server. So I guess, we should update the map around once a month? | | Yaya |

Sweet, this is one of those things that makes me wish I had MC. I'd love to venture into obscure tundras and deserts to build obscure things. I chuckled at the fact that there's a beach with sand smack in the middle of one of the tundra sections. You should try and update it more than the FC or "Weekly" updates atleast, so I can see the stuff you guys make.

This makes me realize how much stuff we don't have. Seriously, there are so many random things everywhere.
This makes me feel like a Inter Town (name made up on the spot) would be the shining jewel of the server. Remember that post I posted (lol) about the design/layout/organization of a city. I think we really should put that into effect. A huge city, all planned and neat/nice/epic looking...

Yeah, Minecraft is not the most realistic game when it comes to world generation.

Yeah you can really tell how disorganized the server is right now. At least the old server had the NER to hold it all together and it was cool. We need something like that.
I've seen some servers that all try to build as close to spawn as possible, creating a nice dense collection of neat projects, and effectively forming a city. We could try doing something like that, but not near our spawn. Perhaps Kro City would be a nice place to start. | | Shavey Dave |

I agree with the Kro city idea because atm we really need to get a move on.

Guys, I don't know about you, but the 2nd Interguild Minecraft Server just doesn't have the same kind of magic that the first server had. Fortunately, I finally figured out what was missing: we need more landmarks.
The reason why the old server felt so awesome was because we built the Spawn first, and then we built roads bringing you everywhere, and these roads were littered with signs telling you about all of the locations that you could go on the server. Because nearly every area on the server had a name (Horseshoe Valley, Sunrise Bay, Yug City, San Notch), the whole place felt so much more alive.
But with the current server, everyone's kinda building their own thing wherever they want and they're not really trying to connect it to the Spawn or any other projects. This means that they're no way to advertise your projects, and no incentive to come up with names for places since you're not really putting up signs for them.
I'll admit that part of this problem is because the current Spawn area isn't very well made and its roads stink, but that's a discussion for the Spawn City Planning topic.
The reason I'm posting this here is because I want to start adding labels to the Super Map. My hope is that this will be our "quick fix" to this problem until the spawn area is improved. I don't think there's a way to add labels to the map right now, so I'm planning on just making one big super image again (taking my screenshots from the current super map) and then just place text on top of the relevant areas.
Or maybe there's a better mapping application that allows you to add labels? | | jazz |

Agreed. I dunno. Maybe we should add a portal to the previous world we made, I've seen it in use but it eats up the whateveritscalled. | | Yaya |

I don't play on the server, so I'll just stick in my 2-non-minecraftian-sense here. I agree with Livio. You guys need to make something cool and awesome for this server like the past one. You need another Bellsprout statue or bridge or blimp. You guys haven't even posted any new creations for more than 2 weeks. Also, did you guys rebuild on this server what you built on the last one? That could at least give you some concrete starting direction if you put in some familiar landmarks.

I just installed a new mod to the server that generates a real-time map of everything!
Here's the link: http://91.121.119.192:8123/
I set it to render in high quality because any lower quality looks terrible.
And there's also no way to initialize the full map, so what you're gonna have to do is go through every empty spot on the map and place/destroy a block so that the map can get redrawn for that region. It's even more of a pain now that the map is in high quality, but hey, I think it's worth the effort.
Also the map has two settings: flat and surface. I prefer surface, but I north is facing a different direction than in the previous map. | | Livio |

I think only admins can add markers at this point. So if you want a marker added, upload a level to the database with its coordinates. | | Kooler |

I think the isometric map should be updated since it was last updated in November 2011.

After about 1.5 hours, the map has finished uploading, but something seems to have gone wrong. I think it's because I didn't delete the old map before I started rendering... | | krotomo |
