Could I become a builder on your Minecraft server? My username is nicolagill, but that because my mum registered for me XD
Guyguy has run me through the rules and I will not be like nebnebben.
If you don't already know me, my name is Jacob Jervey and I am the CEO of Brohoster. I've recently decided that in the best interest of the company and our clients, Brohoster is going to start moving away from being a budget host and rather will focus on simply having the highest performance and best support available in this industry. Killing two birds with one stone, we will also be focusing on becoming available in almost every part of the world. This goes hand in hand with the website and control panel overhaul occuring in mid to late June, more or less resulting in a complete and total overhaul for Brohoster for the better. The #1 host is about to get even better.
For simplicity's sake, this email will mostly be in a list format.
1. Brohoster will be expanding it's locations to encompass every side of North America. San Jose, Washington DC, Seattle, and Dallas will all be available locations. We still plan on expanding to Amsterdam, but it seems that has been delayed until mid Q3. We apologize to any of those that were waiting for this location.
2. All new boxes will be equipped with 4x32GB Intel SSD drives in RAID-10. These are extremely expensive drives, and for good reason. Data loss is near impossible and the speed is unmatched by any of our competitors. 15k RPM drives can't hold a stick to these servers - quick access times are what is key with Minecraft, not how much data it can write over a given amount of time. Keep in mind, only Seattle and WDC are equipped with these SSDs right now. San Jose should receive SSDs within the next two weeks and Dallas will probably receive them within the next week once we have stock.
3. Prices are going to have to increase due to the need of a larger support team and better hardware. The newer pricing will be available on the website as soon as orders are available, however they will not increase for existing clients. That being said, if you want to move to a newer box with these SSDs, we will unfortunately require you to pay the new price. You will be able to move to San Jose without any charge until we receive the new SSD boxes there. Prices will not increase drastically, so do not worry - it's only a slight increase to accomodate the new costs and MUCH higher performance.
So what do you need to do? If you want to ...
... move your server to a new location WITHOUT SSDs (San Jose being the only option right now), you can simply open a support ticket once they are available and you will be migrated.
... move your server to a new location with SSDs (Seattle, WDC, and in two weeks San Jose), you will need to open a billing ticket to be assigned the new pricing. Once that is done and paid for, you will be migrated to the new location. You also can alternatively just cancel your server and order a new one.
... stay where you are, there's nothing you have to do and you can keep on going with your current price. Brohoster will never force a client to pay more for their existing service.
What does this mean for Brohoster and our clients?
Much, much, much faster servers with EXTREMELY fast world loading times. If you thought your server was fast now, wait until you see it on a SSD enabled box.
Brohoster will be able to afford a dedicated support team for livechat. As it stands, our core team can not operate livechat and tickets at the same time without being overwhelmed.
A slight increase in price, but a huge increase in performance and reliability. You get what you pay for, we just try to keep that amount as low as possible.
Better connections for those who either live closer to the location or who's continental uplink is closer to it.
Brohoster is getting larger, and so far - only good things have come out of that. It's a sign that your money is in the right hands. If we're expanding like we are, that means we're doing very, very well. With 100+ sales daily and rising, it's only going to get better from here.
As an added note, Brohoster is going to have a community website soon. More information regarding that will be emailed to you as it is available. Likewise, we will also email everyone when the new locations are ready tonight. For those who love specifications, here is the overall configuration of our new boxes:
Dual Hex-Core Xeon X5675 3.06ghz Processor ($1500 a piece, just released this quarter)
24GB DDR3-667 Triple Channel ECC Registered RAM
4x32GB Intel SLC Solid State Drives in RAID-10
Adaptec 5405Z RAID controller with Battery Backup Unit
1000mbit public port
1000mbit private network used for internal Brohoster systems communications
Hosted exclusively on the industry standard Softlayer network
As always, if you have any questions, you can email me directly at jjervey@brohoster.com or you can open a sales ticket at http://bros.brohoster.com/
Thank you,
Jacob Jervey
Brohoster CEO
tl;dr - BroHoster offers faster servers for a slight upgrade in price, exact sum yet unknown. We're not forced to upgrade and therefore pay a higher price, if we want to, we can stay with our current server, paying no more than previously.
Opinions? Personally, I'd like to wait until the price has been released until we decide if we upgrade or not, but if you guys are happy with what we have, then I see no reason why we'd do that.
I like the idea of it, though, (Probably since I am can't help pay) it wouldn't make a difference for me, since my Internet connection on this computer sucks like nothing else. (Remember the speed test? F-) Though, I think that a move, if we were to upgrade, to the east coast, would be a much better option, since 6 (Or is it 7?) of our players are in Europe. I think that if we can afford it, it would be fine. (Speaking of which, it's only a little more than a week until we have to renew our hosting.)
Though, yes. As long as nobody here has complaints with what we have, in terms of lag and connection, then I don't see a reason to upgrade yet, either.
And did I here something about a cPanel overhaul? Winning!
If it's not too pricey, I say we go for it. Reason being that now we're building super-structures with zfill, the server's struggling to load up what we make and I'm guessing a faster one would save having to wait around for buildings to pop up.
I messed up. I tried to give myself torches, but I got fire instead. (I thought it was banned?) Then, I tried to remove all the fire by setting fire to the sand.
Is there any command to clear only certain items in the inventory?
Does anyone know who redbow99 and space_otter are?
@Jazz: If you place a sign and have the first line say: [Disposal] you can then right click on it and drop any items you don't want into the chest that pops up. When you close the chest, any items you placed in it should be permanently deleted.

I searched about for a bunch of both useful and fun Plugins, and this is what I found.
We may already have this one, but this looks super useful against griefers. I have looked into this one a lot, but it requires a server that allows MySQL databases, and the server we have doesn't even allow .bat files. And it looks like a nightmare to install.
