Yeah, so maybe I've been living in a cave or something like that?

(I can't access the Judge Page, and I have results ready...)

Just post them here. We never use the Judge Page anyway because the final rankings are done manually.

I know I'm not supposed to give karma in secret boards, but you deserve positive karma for that post jazz.

Anyways, my opinions for Minecraft:

1st- Great Lakes Monument (Quirvy and Livio, I think...)
2nd- D52 Statue+Temple (Yuggy, was it?)

I liked both of them, but the Temple's interior was kinda empty. Maybe a few paintings?

Well it's nice that we have one judge reporting for duty, but we're still missing two (Isa, Dando)

Theoretically I shouldn't be able to access this board section but no one ever got rid of me and you guys definitely need to get started considering that the IO ends Sunday.

You might want to start with the minecraft comp because all judging that one requires is watching a minecraft video that's less than a minute long, and then picking your favorite monument of the 2.

From there on I might suggest you go in this order just because that's the order that the comps ended in kind of:

Hypocritical "Try Something New"
Jellsprout Imitation (or just use jell's judging as results)
Make a Puzzle
Patriotism
HATPC Gems
Super Mania
Speedrun Video

Then on sunday these will end:
HATPC Portrait
An NES with an End
Team Collab

I suggest you don't do them one at a time and wait for other judges to judge the round to move onto the others, when you finish one comp, just go onto the next one, because it is my opinion that you guys are really far behind

I believe that Isa can't judge hatpc levels because of hatpc not working, so he'll probably have to avoid these comps:

Collab Comp
Hatpc Portait
Jellsprout Comp

I don't know about the puzzle comp, since out of 8 entries only 1 is a hatpc level.
The partiotism comp is another that could go either way since we have 2 minecraft levels as well as 2 hatpc levels that are entered into the portrait competition as well. I don't think you can compare a hatpc level's quality to a minecraft building's quality, so I'm kind of confused on how you guys are going to judge that.
And I think that if you probably could efficiently judge the add a gem competition without actually playing the caves since they didn't look too tricky (although I believe that my entry was confusing to CSD who just looked at the map, but if you're confused about something, you can ask about it)

For comps that Isa can't judge, perhaps jell should step in for him if he's up to it?

Comments, thoughts, signs of life from Isa and Dando?

I also changed the title of the topic to better attract their attention

For the Sprout Comp I think it is best to just use my judging.
And if I need to fill in for any judge, I volunteer. Just say so.

I started playing some of them a while ago, I just haven't actually judged anything yet, lol. I'll probably have time to do all most some of my judging today.

Life sign. HatPC shows none though, so I won't judge those comps. I suppose I could judge shos style (look at cave code) but eh.

So how are we (== you) gonna penalize the Purple Okapis for their failure to produce a minecraft entry?

Or rather in order:

How would we normally penalize a team for failure to produce an entry?
Should we take the server went down on the last 3 days into consideration or was it obvious that they weren't going to come up with anything anyways because guyguy was their only minecraft guy and the team did not appear to be communicating properly with him?
If we take that into consideration, should we lessen the punishment against them(how much) or cancel it out all together?

We can't punish 2 minutes = 1 puzzle just because it was made late, right? We can't punish them for planning poorly either.
Cancel it all out.

Behold! In the header is a list of where all of the competitions stand right now!

The only comp I'm willing to say is done with is the jell comp, because everyone seems to be willing to say, "jell knows best"

We've got 3 judges completing judging on the collab comp but Isa shos'd it so I don't know whether or not jell counts that as getting the job done or if he still wants to come in and do some extra judging.

The minecraft comp could also be called in as well, since it only has 2 entries and both of the judges that judged that comp produced the same winner.

I'll judge those and use Isa's rankings if there were to be a tie somewhere.

I was going to propose that we could release some of the results yesterday, and then release the rest of them next Sunday, but I didn't so it looks like we're going to be releasing them all at once. Keep in mind that we're going to try to release them all on Sunday, so it would probably be best that you don't blow off judging until Sunday, and in fact, the sooner you get it done, probably the better, because Livio isn't totally reliable to be on, and I think that he goes back to university some time shortly before next sunday, so if you got really ambitious and finished it a few days early, he can just pre-write the news post and set it up to post itself on sunday.

But anyways, enough about that. Let the judging CONTINUE!

Anyways, back to work.

So exactly how are we scoring these competitions?

A team gets 3 points for a first place finish, 2 for a second place, 1 for third? Or do we do the top 5? How are we doing the pentathlon again? I don't remember how we did it last year, except that it was something to do with adding percentages.

Top 3, and points as you mentioned. Percentages were some odd crap CSD added just to give himself 69% completion or so for something...

1st of all, keep in mind that these topics are likely going to be released to the public like we did last year, so you might want to reword that

That doesn't answer how we're going to treat them. Do we really want to just give pentathlons the weird name and all and then all of a sudden say, "lol it's basically the same thing as the other comps but one week long" I like the idea of adding team percentages and then whichever team has the most, they get 3 points, 2nd gets 2 and 3rd gets 1. Or maybe we should do 2, 1, 0, but it really doesn't matter either way.

So not doing anything with the pentathlons other than just counting them as normal rounds, I started counting up the rounds. With what we have right now:

Spoiler:

I also went ahead and predicted the end score minus the pentathlon thing, using the not fully judged rounds, and it looks like

Spoiler:

I guess anything can happen, though, so we won't know for sure until judging is finished.

So what are we going to do if all of the rounds aren't fully judged by the start of Sunday? There's only about a day left until our deadline, and while it is set to be released on Sunday I think the deadline should be the end of Saturday because we shouldn't be counting on judges to judge on the same day that the results are released. So if by the end of tomorrow Isa/Jell hasn't judged all of the rounds, Jell tiebreaks any remaining ties, which is every comp not fully judged minus the portrait comp?

And we still haven't really come to definite conclusion on how we're doing the pentathlons yet. Anyone other than me remotely worried about us getting these results out on time?

Correct me if I'm wrong but we still have the supermania comp and the try something new comps left. Are we even going to try to do something with the pentathlon when we add up the points?

I'll tiebreak the Try Something New round and I'll tiebreak the Super round if that is still necessary after that.
