I have had an idea; why don't we develop a freeware game (of course it will be hosted on a place with ads that we will be payed for, such as a free .tk domain with a host that has a great FTP service) with freeware tools, unless if it's a cheap tool you already have or something you have to do in real life that costs a little bit (such as scanning, because a printer costs money, but that shouldn't count). It may boost activity and it may even attract new members. Also, this won't be like Aeon. Oh dear that would be horrible. This project will be open sourced, free, and made by the entire community. Even if you can't code, then you can participate (artwork, storyline, ect.). And if you want to learn, then I shall make a directory of sites that you can learn from for free. And also, this could be great practice if you already know how to make a game, because you can just mess around in it.
Do you guys think this would be a good idea? I mean, you can't say "well, I don't have enough time", because this project will take awhile. | « Forum Index < General Games Discussion | POLL: Who should be in charge? Kooler

It's kinda clichéd, though. Also, most modern 8-bit music doesn't have the same charm to it. | | atvelonis |

I dunno, 8-bit music goes fine as long as it doesn't repeat constantly. Maybe we should have 2 or 3 different tracks so the player doesn't get tired of the same music playing over and over again.

The point of 8-bit music is to have the same 1-2 minute on loop for each area...

Sniper, since you seem to have the most experience with coding games and such, so I'd prefer you to be head coder, and I'll be your coding monkey

Unless if you make pseudo sprite music, where the player is lead to believe it's the same thing over and over, but then suddenly, there's a change.

Okay, who is the most active, responsible, and mature person working on this project?
Because I believe they should be the project manager.

I'm pretty active , but Sniper seems to know what he's doing. If he doesn't want to, I'll do it in a pinch.

I might be active much. I am responsible. Maybe mature. But I don't have the skill to begin with. I tried making music but it doesn't work.

^ It'd probably be better to just post again, or else no one will notice the stuff that you edited in
So how much progress has been made on this project? Did you set a deadline yet? Did you define who's on the team yet? Who's leading the project? | | kinectking |

I'm really mature (not to sound arrogant) and in generally responsible (except when it cones to math homework lol, I just did like, 60 pages of math homework in one sitting, which my math teacher said no one would be able to do even her (we had a week to do it but it was over vacation and I mean, come on, you didn't really expect me to do it until u got back did you?) But i really don't want to be the project manager because I don't have much time, and the most importabt reason i wanted to make this post is because I wanted to warn whoever the project manager ends up being, that I cant be relied on too heavily, if at all, as I have very little free time, sorry :/

Because you can code.

So? Not trying to sound annoying or irritating or anything, but I really don't think I'm the right person for this, as I am generally busy

Well that would be a point for you not being voted in as leader. You were probably up there in the first place because you could code, and that you were also mature. You are a lot better at keeping track of math homework than me, so I don't question that.

Thanks, I just don't want anyone to think I have any overwhelming desire to be project manager, and then let everyone down when I fail (which I'm pretty sure I know I would xD)

Lol, i guess I'm popular. So the first order of business is communication. Well need to setup a Skype call between everyone who's involved to get the call rolling. I'll be adding about everyones interests in the project and what kind of skills and experience everyone has so that i can make informed decisions. It would be awesome if everyone with experience had a very short portfolio i could look at. For programmers, that's just the source code for a program you wrote. Obviously, its not required, but it would be helpful for me.
Edit: don't post that information here because it would just pollute the thread.
