I was actually planning on working on Aeon today simply because I don't feel like working on the game system. But I'll also probably be away from the computer for most of today because it's Father's Day here in the U.S.
Oh... and are any of the artists here able to DRAW in Flash rather than sprite in MS Paint or similar? Vector, Flash graphics would be best, as it would allow for resizing different objects and such (or zoom in / out) without sacrificing quality.
I have tried vector graphics a bit with CS4, but it is difficult to make sprites in vectors. Lines, curves and gradients are more suited for large, plain areas, while for sprites you need to do details on pixel scale.
We could look here for some sprites, to give ourselves a kick-start. That is, provided they have anything we need. We could also unload Jellsprout and ask a user to develop a specific sprite.
Should there be blood in this game? When the character lands on the spikes, should there be blood that squirts all over the spikes and walls? And then the blood would stay there when you start your next life perhaps? As a fan of games like Gears of War and Dead Space, I like it, but I think you should probably keep it family-friendly or you may end up alienating younger players. Plus I bet that'd be tricky to programme.
I think power boxes like this was not a good idea in the first place. When you think about it, they kinda have to look like some form of metal, and metal as we all know is solid. I think instead of that we should have something else.
We should make some templates, such as a blank metal box, a blank wooden box, et cetera, and then simply modify those. Let's not make too many completely different boxes, to maintain unity throughout the game.
