heh, what about this for electric box?
It's not that great, though
looks like if you touch it, it'll shock and kill you. Wait, is this electric box, or power box?

and that's better, kitty

Actually, to make things easier: Livio, what if you just superimposed the picture on top of certain crates? That way, we won't need separate images for metal crates, wooden crates, and everything. Just a picture that can go on top of either.

hmm, that would be a much better method of programming it too. I think it was mentioned before, but I think I only considered it in terms of drawing.

these both look very good in my opinion. but we'll have to clarify what they are in a way that can't be misunderstood, cuz it can be misinterpreted..

i think the power boxes should look more bright and collectable than dark and metal. Anyway I don't really think my latest picture won't work well so you can ignore it

yes I agree. We should come up with ideas on how to make them look better.

An easy way for players to realize what's collectible and what isn't is through animation. Gives these power boxes some sort of animation, perhaps the lightning bolt lighting up every so often, or the whole box rumbling slightly. You could also just make it so they aren't boxes but floating orb-looking things, sort of like those fuel cells from Star Fox Adventures:

Animating something like that could get much more lively.

I think the collectable things should be thing you would WANT. If you see a treasure chest in a game, you would probably collect it simply because it's something you'd want.

How about a Key? I mean, the game already refers to those as "Keys"

I just made some potential icons. The arrows are for gravity changes, should we decide to do that (which I believe we should... though for the sake of cleanliness, I think the whole stage should rotate or something, so we're not walking upside down)

These next things should be in a looping animation, where they fade into each other over and over again. These are potential fuel cells, which we are all after. Livio- make fuel crates glow.

Let me know what you guys think.

changing gravity's direction would be cool, actually. However, I would have to change the way the game is coded so that it can deal with a shifting direction of gravity.

Fuel Cells, now that's a good alternative. The only problem is whether they're stackable. Maybe we could but them in side a glass box, and still have the glow around the gall thing.

I put the fuel cell inside a glass box.

I think gravity changes would be a bit confusing. Those could be the tutorial arrows, though.

EDIT: Wait, I forgot to animate it! Here you go:

Hope it's okay!

Maybe make the glow larger, and the glass less blue and more white? just a thought.

that doesn't look like a nuke crate. It looks like a dust crate. Or fog, or clouds.

Dekudue, those are all awesome! I'm personally against the idea of gravity changes, but those would be awesome as tutorial arrows. As for the fuel cells, that's just brilliant. Regarding if they stack, it would be neat if they couldn't, because then you could make traps where you have to collect it before the boulder/crate falls on top of it, just blocking it from being collected. This should also mean that arrows would fly through them and dynamite could not destroy them.

Very cool.

yeah, what if we made some kind of "fragile" energy cell, where it could very well get destroyed before you reach it? That's a cool idea.

I still think the glass shouldn't be blue...

I don't think we need a glass crate. The fuel cells can probably be standalone (though still definitely need a glow... Flash can do that, I think) Also, for the animation, they should be a frame-by-frame-sequence, they should kind of fade into each other... so it seems more like some weird chemical.

Oh, and I love your nuclear explosion box, haha. If you want it to look more like radiation, give it some color, but I honestly think it looks fine right now.

Whoa. That boulder certainly does blow HATPC's out of the bag.
(Lol, what's the bubble box for? Fuel cells? Is there something I missed? Yes there is.)

EDIT: I very recently made a base of Jean:

Sure, it's a bit big, but who cares, really? She looks cool.
I was thinking of also putting clothes on her... maybe a mechanical hand? Jean could be one of the mechanical workers of the spaceship (or rocket), and her mechanical hand is a sign of all the trouble she goes through just to fix something?
