Destroy a tree, use the wood to create a pickaxe and a regular axe, use the pickaxe to gather materials and the axe for cutting down trees with higher efficiency, then build a small home out of wood.

Updated map will be create tomorrow. Any further actions are part of the next turn. In this post I will display the new battle system as Shos takes on Not-So Johnny.

Sniper

4 - That didn't work out

You manage to create a hut, but when you made the campfire, the flames managed to set your cabin alight, quickly burning said wood cabin to the ground. Oh well. At least you have a camp fire.

Cedric

6 - Minor Success!

You make yourself a shovel and dig a hole in the ground, hiding yourself from 'undesirables'. You also make a sign and hastily scratch onto it 'Horace'. You sleep on the soft, squishy mud.

Quirvy

10 - PWN

You build huge, unscalable walls around your territory, marking you as alpha male of north island. The Walls have spike on top to avoid 'undesirables' from simply climbing over, and anti-aircraft guns to stop them flying over. You place CCTV cameras everywhere, and add an automatic sentry nearby the entrance. From the outside, the door can only be opened by an eye-scanner. Finally, you build a moat filled with piranhas and shark for a little extra touch.

Shos

7 - Slightly less minor success!

The villagers did not know what the tennis racket was for, so you decided to mark out some courts and make a tennis ball. You beat the villager who volunteered to go first very badly, but is was his first time, and you are sure he'll become the next Nadal or Federer. You are able to find an abundant supply of coffee beans, and you collect a weeks supply. You present the coffee to the chieftain, and although he did not seem to like the taste, he is pleased with your generosity. You also drink some coffee and gain the effect 'Hyperactive'. Finally, although the hunters appreciate your thoughtfulness, they decide they would prefer to stick with tried and tested weapons passed on from their ancient ancestors.

Jellsprout

3 - That was a bad idea

You put out your hand, intending him to shake it. He instead slashes it, damaging you a further 300 damage.

Isa

4 - That didn't work out

You start hitting the tree until part of it falls off, leaving the rest of the tree suspended in mid air. You then make the axe and pickaxe, and start mining to make the better axe. Instead of punching trees, you now smash them with a pixelated hatchet. You the build yourself a shelter to protect yourself from mobs that only spawn at night the you make a bed to skip the night but then a giant Notch comes down, and shouts at you 'This isn't Minecraft!'. You loose all your belongings and are temporarily deafened. Oh well. At least you have a shelter and a bed to sleep in.

Soccerboy

3 - That was a bad idea

Bob leads you to his favourite cave, but as you begin to go to sleep, the cave entrance collapses, trapping you in the cave.

Bmwsu

4 - That didn't work out

Since you didn't actually have any nukes, you have just wasted a turn, and will now proceed to freeze to death in the bitter cold of winter.

Yaya

6 - Minor Success!

You find a small beach on north island and by using fire blast on the beach, the entire beach turns into a solid block of glass.

Silver

10 - PWN

You climb up, and up and up for so long. The tree almost seemed to be endless. You eventually found a tree house with a months supply of food and a teleporter other tree houses dotted around the island.

Since this is his favourite cave, he'll always know the way back.

Is it a positive Karma Chameleon, or a negative Karma Chameleon? If it's a positive Karma Chameleon, he's okay. Otherwise, he goes onto the undesirables list.

Also, as I said earlier, it would be nice if you could tell us which island people are on and stuff, since I assume that might affect who we might be able to interact with

I didn't think Notch would be that cruel to me. Live and learn!

Anyway,
gather resources in the form of wood and stone, and use this to create a small, controlled fire inside my hut. Should I succeed with this (scoring a 5/10 or better), search for small animals to tame and/or rescue. Should I find one, I'll name it November.

I am currently putting together a Bestiary and Weapons Library. If you want to get an item that another player has, you can either kill them or trade with them. I would appreciate constructive criticism for the current battle system.

Battles go via PM, where the player PM's their move. When the battle is over, the results are posted. This gives players more control.

A Library is great. Consider looking at Dungeons and Dragons or other pen-and-paper RPG's for a combat system.

Anyway, my suggestions for the combat system:
You can use each weapon X times per 5 seconds, standard being 1, 2 or ½.
You can also equip shields to parry attacks, although some attacks are hard to block (say, a Dragon spitting fire) - those usually require magical resistance in other games which you might wanna avoid for now, although I don't know your limits.
I want to limit the amount of luck involved in combats (and in general, but for now it's part of the game and is pretty much a core feature, so no changing there), but to me, it also doesn't make sense to have it completely removed since the other elements of the game revolve around successful dice rolls. I suggest rolling 1-10 like usual, but only differ between three different kinds of rolls: 1, 2-9 and 10. 1 means you fumble somehow, 2-9 means you deal regular damage, 10 is hitting with maximum accuracy or so.
Allow the player to equip a limited number of weapons, since you can't use more than two things at the same time (one thing in each hand) unless it's something like a brass knuckle.

Also, on a related note: Make it impossible to carry more than a certain number of items at the same time unless you somehow craft a backpack or the like?

Build a nice park somewhere in my enclosed space to appease the Jungle Spirits. Surely they just want me to be more environment friendly.

Also, what's with Isa and Silver's HP? You didn't list anything?

Additionally, you said that shos started with 3000/300 hp, but shouldn't it be 3100/3000?

Also, I would personally advise against building some extremely complex battle system that makes sense in theory but is really complicated. But I like the "You tell me what to do, and I tell you how it went" pace that I've been going at so far, so that may be why I feel that way. If I'm going to attack anyone, I'm probably going to build a cannon and shoot it aimlessly at them from my enclosed space, hoping it hits them, and then probably accidentally killing someone else instead. But that will come later. First I must see if I can appease these damned jungle spirits and what not. If I can't get them to calm down... war...

(removed faulty quote)

Shields would work like you want them to, but an easy way would be to make it reduce the damage you take from attacks by either something like "100 HP" or "25% of all incoming damage". It occupies one hand though, which means that you probably shouldn't be able to use a crossbow at the same time as it requires two hands. (on that note, make some weapons one-handed and some two-handed - dual-wielding is neat, but you can balance it out by making two-handed weapons more powerful).

Re: using every 5 seconds, imagine that one sequence of a battle is five seconds. Have a look at this spoiler:
Spoiler:

Everything in turn 1 takes 5 seconds. Some weapons might be very light, so you can use them multiple times in the same turn (knives for example). Some others might be very heavy or requires recharging, like a big cannon that has to be reloaded with a new cannonball each time it's used.
Purely as an example, Gore-Splattered Chainsaw might be usable once per turn, while Basic Bow requires one turn of recharging. Poisoned spear on the other hand requires no recharge and can be used twice per turn. Again, purely as an example.

My thoughts. =p

Okay, I think I get the battle system now. However, should I choose the player's actions for them?
