Although I haven't received confirmations from Yaya and Kooler, I didn't want even more wait to play. Isa is my backup mod, and any mod stuff done by him is legitimate. Sticky this please? I assume you all know the rules. Stickied. /Isa

Welcome to Bowick. Actually, not really a welcome- you must have been here before. In case you have somehow not noticed, we are completely snowed in, and it doesn't look like we'll get out soon. I mean, they must find it difficult to care about a small town- well not really, officially we are a town, but anyone without this knowledge would think we are a tiny village, since we only have a few hundred people living here- I suppose we are insignificant compared to most towns, for example Cheltenham is many times larger than us. Anyway, back to our situation- We have been snowed in for two and a half weeks now, and still the snow floats down into the large pileups, and still the sun hides behind the large clouds and fog. Our roads are iced over and skies are too foggy for anything to come in and rescue us. Our phones have also stopped working mysteriously so we have no contact with the outside world.

I suppose you want to know about me? My name is Alexander Johnson. I am a Judge. I was born in London, and my parents were both Solicitors. I went to a fairly awful Junior school, and then worked hard to join Westminster, a famous boys private school. I later went to Oxford to study Philosophy, but changed to Law midway through my degree. I then spent a number of years learning the ropes of Law as a barrister, then later trained to become a Judge. I am currently a Judge for important cases, not a county judge, which is the reason I am in Bowick today.

I was judging at a case in Bowick over the murder of a thirty-one year old man, who appeared to have been stabbed through the chest and had his heart torn out, then had his body left to rot in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, and was eventually found by a lumberjack who was exploring the nearby Bowick woods. We were fairly close to getting the results from the autopsy and DNA tests to identify the culprit, but they never arrived, and later a van was found in a wreck off a cliff edge where it was presumed it had fallen off the road which was icy due to the snow even back then, when it had only just began. But what was even stranger is that the test results, despite being unusable even if they were found, were simply not there. Only two of the three people in the van that set off were found, and one of the two was completely unidentifiable, with his nose and both arms torn off, and another body supposedly unrelated to the incident was also found nearby, seeming to be washed up by the waves a fortnight later.

Even my journey here seemed to be cursed with bad luck. I took a taxi to St. Pancras, and travelled to Newcastle by train. During my train journey there was a power outage, and the train stopped at Leeds, and we all had to get out and I was forced to take a taxi. At the end of the journey, I asked how much I needed to pay him, and he said he needed nothing. Most people would see this as a stroke of good luck, but I found this so bizarre that I found this to be bad luck.

I am hoping that the snow will stop soon and the sun will come out of hiding and melt all this snow so I can escape this unsettling place.

RULES (copied from CSD)

The Interguild Mafia Game is about to start! Please read and fully understand all of the rules below. Once you're sure you've got it, post below and I will send out what's known as a "role PM". This contains all the information you need to know about your "character" and it's abilities. It's best that you keep everything in it secret, for now. Once you have received and fully understand your role PM, please post again below to confirm (if you have any questions about the role specifically, send me a PM about it). As far as sending me PM's goes, do not hesitate to send me one, but as I have a limit of 50 or so PM's in my inbox at once, please wait until I have replied to one PM before sending another. Once everybody has posted that they have received and understand their role PM, then we can begin!

NOTE TO ANYBODY NOT INVOLVED IN THE GAME:
As you are not playing in this game, do NOT post in Interguild Mafia Forum (it is made public so that you can follow along with the action). Do not post about the game around the site (and especially don't post about any suspicions you may have) and do not PM people about the game who currently involved in it.

General Structure Of The Game

At the start of the game, the players are randomly assigned to be members of either the "town" or the "mafia". If you are a member of the town, you win when all the members of the mafia are eliminated. If you are a member of the mafia, you win when the mafia comprises the majority of the remaining players. There are always significantly less members of the mafia then there are members of the town, but the mafia have the advantage of knowing who the other members of the mafia are, and being allowed to talk to one another outside of the game's main threads. There may be players that are neither town nor mafia, and if you are one of them, your win conditions will be explained in the role PM I send you. Once all the roles have been assigned, the game then proceeds into a series of alternating day and night phrases, until somebody's win condition is met.

During the day, all the players are expected to post in the designated thread, where they will discuss the ongoings of the game, and argue about who is mafia and who isn't. Be sure to be very careful about the things you say. You wouldn't want to say something that makes the rest of the town suspicious of you. You will also not want to reveal your role, at least in the early going, since if the mafia know what the town's roles are, then they have a much easier figuring out which of them it would be most beneficial to kill.

All players get one vote (which they can change throughout the day phase, as their opinions changes as well), and they use that vote to vote for who they want to see eliminated from the game (aka: lynched). The town is trying to lynch members of the mafia, while the mafia is trying to mislead the town into lynching a member of the town instead (though having nobody be lynched at all often works to the mafia's advantage). Once a majority of the remaining player's votes are for a single player (for example, if there are 8 people alive, then 5 of them would have to vote for the single player for them to be lynched), then that player is lynched and removed from the game. When a player is lynched, that player's role and alignment are revealed. Congratulations to the town, if the person they lynched turned out to be working for the mafia, but if they were in fact a member of the town, then all is not lost -- vital information is gained by analyzing the events of the previous day, and perhaps you will be able to find a mafioso responsible for the mislynch. Once a player is lynched, the day ends and we move into the night phase. There will be a time limit placed on the day phase, and if a lynch is not reached by then, the day will end without a lynch.

Notes About the Day Phase:
- When you wish to vote for a player, at the bottom of your post, write VOTE: (player name). It is important that you bold your votes (use the appropriate bbCode) so that, when I go to do a vote count, I don't miss any.
- If you wish to change your vote from one player to another or to just remove your vote from the player you voted for, first write UNVOTE: (player name). Please bold all unvotes as well.
- As who has voted for who can get confusing, I will attempt to periodically keep you updated on the current vote counts. If you feel a vote count would be helpful, feel free to post in the thread that you would like one.
- Stay active. You will be expected to post a few times in every "day". If possible, I will replace people who I feel aren't active enough.
- Do not talk about the game outside of the thread, AT ALL. Don't talk about it in some other thread, don't talk about it in the chatbox, and most importantly of all, don't talk about it in private messages to one another. Only the mafia my talk about the game outside of the main thread, and even then, they must ONLY use the secret mafia board.
- If you have some question about the game, please send me (and only me) a private message about it. Note that I only have limited space in my inbox, so please only send me one PM at a time.
- DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS. Everything that is said is meant to be part of the public record. If you have something else to say or even if you just made a mistake in typing your previous post, then, just this once, double-posting is both allowed and preferred.
- DO NOT QUOTE MY PM's. Everything that I say to you in a PM is intended for your eyes only. Don't even pretend to quote me, using something that I didn't actually write.

Once the day ends, the night phase begins. Nobody may post in the main thread during the night. If you have a special action that you can perform, send me a PM stating whether or not you wish to use it. Whether or not you have an action to perform will be detailed in the role PM I send you. It is during the night phase that the mafia will choose one member of the town to kill. If everything goes according to plan, there will be one less member of the town alive once the next day phase starts. The role and alignment of the player who was killed will be revealed at the start of the next day. There is also a time limit on the night phase, so if you have an action to perform, make sure you send it in before the deadline.

Notes About the Night Phase:
- PM me any night actions you may have before the deadline. Any actions received after the deadline will be ignored. If you wish to abstain, send a PM saying so. If everybody sends in their actions right away, we can start the next day phase sooner.
- Do not post in the thread during the night phase. Unless you are mafia and posting in the secret mafia board, you may not talk about the game at all during the night.
- If you arrive in the "morning" to find out that you have died, you may NOT post in the thread. If you have died, you are out of the game, but, even though you are dead, you will still win if the people you were aligned with end up winning the game. If you were mafia, and you die, you may not post in the secret mafia board anymore, as well. I will arrange for a secret "graveyard" board, where people who have died can talk about the game without having to worry about giving anything away. If you have access to any secret forums, it is of the utmost importance that you DO NOT karma rate ANYTHING. Anything you rate will become visible to anyone in the "recent karma rates" panel.

The day ends at the 22nd of September or when a lynch has occured.

The game just HAD to start on a Monday.

We have only 10 days to work with so to get discussion on the game starting I will introduce Random Voting Stage or RVS. Simply put a vote on somebody for little reasoning and it will help gather information early in the game.

Vote: canadianstickdeath

For being staff.

Oh, and speaking of staff, I want everyone to know that the staff don't care if you attack them. It's just a game. In the last 2 games, a staff member has never been lynched or really attacked much at all and I think it's because people are afraid to attack the staff. The last 2 games have proved that staff can be mafia and if we can't lynch the staff then the town may never win a game so don't be afraid to attack the staff (and especially if you see somebody as obvscum as jellsprout in the last game). I'm sure even CSD will agree with me and Isa would too if he could.

You should also include the number of votes required for a lynch so there's no accidental lynch.

List of participants should be added to OP in one minute. -edit- no wait, better to have Guyguy do it

Number of persons required for a lynch is under usual circumstances (number of players/2)+1, rounded down. In this case, there are 11 persons alive and therefore 6 votes required for a lynch.

Well, if Guyguy/a member trying to get a theory some support takes a tally, he might count you twice, over-exaggerating charges. And also do you vote twice in elections? Nope, that's illegal. And then leave the questions if you vote someone 5 times, do you have to unvote them 5 times or only once to completely clear your charge against them? It devalues voting and is confusing (atleast to me, lol).

Bad logic. Posting brings attention to you. For an example on averting attention from yourself, see how Harumbai plays.

Okay I removed my retaliation vote.

So you now have no vote on me? Correct? Confusing people with your vote is not pro-town and depending on the nature, is mod-killable on some other forums.

Okay, so since these two above me are fighting, I suppose they are not mafia, since it would be stupid to vote one of your own. so either are not mafia, or just one is not mafia. either way, there's at least 50% chance we'll lynch a town member! therefore, I shall raise one extra person in the RVS, which would be, Jellsprout!...I do not officially vote for him yet tho, since I too wanna see who the rest of the players are.

I shall now go jogging for a while. cya tomorrow

That was more of a joke accusation semi pertaining to when CSD said he'd lynch you on Day 1 no matter what (if I don't vote or even FoS you, my suspicion towards you probably isn't too serious).

The rest of the players need to come though, or else it'll be Soccerboy, me and Thomas bickering until someone else comes on.

Unreliable. If mafia do what town think mafia would not do, mafia are cleared. For example, in the last game nebnebben posted a suspicious persons list and he died on N1 so Quirvy thought "a new mafia player would probably not put their mafia partners on that list." It turns out nebnebben DID so NEVER use "mafia would probably not do that" as a way to clear someone.

There will always be a higher change of lynching town than mafia.
