I didn't say Thomas was scum, I just said that he was the best option to be lynched. But I feel like it's a bit early to start piling on votes on someone, and that I also probably shouldn't be so quick to vote for someone based on their past behavior.

I don't really get how voting completely randomly accomplishes anything; it doesn't actually put pressure on anyone, since even the weakest links know that they're just being voted at randomly. But I guess if the game of mafia has evolved to that, then it must work...

Anyways, I'm still going to try to initiate mafia-finding conversation.

So guys. Who do you want to win this game? I'm hoping that the town wins.

Whew, man I was worried you guys would've already gotten out of the random voting stage by the time I got home from school. It does seem like I missed the ridiculous voting stage though, which I treasure. I'll not vote for now because I'm in the middle of the list so I can't make any number based judgements, and I would've voted for None Yet, but they already got killed.

In case you haven't been following my chatbox woes, expect me to be on less than my normal amount of time until I set up my new hardrive.

Actually, it wad a horrible attempt at a joke. I was looking at the roster Isa posted, and saw somebody was already in eliminated, but it just turned out to be "None Yet". And thus, my attempt to humorously personify None Yet fell on its face. The end.

I know it was random. I asked why you chose Yaya though. Usually on MS people vote someone for this username, avatar, etc. but you just voted for Yaya with no reason at all.

That isn't very smart.

Anyway it doesn't matter what the mod put; we're here to find scum.

Well Thomas, at this point I can't say that anyone is scum. So are you suggesting that I should just sit on my hands and do nothing?

Okay, fine.

Unvote
Vote: No Lynch

Guys, since I don't know anything about anyone at this point, it's my opinion that we should just sit this entire day out, because it wouldn't be very smart of me to vote for someone that I can't say is scum.

remindme pal, how many mafia games have you played this far?

although I can't say I haven't thought about it too - since we're an even number of players..

How does an even amount of players relate to that? And I'm not accusing you Quirvy, but intentionally no lynching is really good for the scum because that eliminates their main threat for the day.

No lynch? Sure. We'll start the game all over again on day 2 but most likely with less people.

I was being sarcastic; That whole post was me saying "No, you're wrong" to Thomas saying that what I had previously said wasn't smart. I was interpreting my post being wrong, and what the opposite of it would be, and displaying that what I was doing before was not in fact "not smart" in its logic. I mean, yeah, it's not genius, but what the hell else am I supposed to be doing right now? Writing letters to Livio about how he should be playing mafia right now?

I went on the assumption that everyone knows that not lynching anyone on day 1 is a bad idea. Even I remember that from the game I played. I guess that isn't as unanimous of an opinion as I expected, otherwise I wouldn't have 3 posts in a row telling me that what I just said was wrong(okay, maybe 2; shos didn't really say I was wrong).

Well Thomas, at this point I can't say that anyone is scum. Additionally, you couldn't actually say that rocketguy is scum based on his name being rocketguy, so isn't it not smart for you to have opened up by voting for him? If I'm supposed to be voting only for people who I would say are scum right now, what am I to do, given that it's too early to make that judgement about anyone? Not lynch anyone?

Quirvy you weren't like this in the game you played in a year ago from what I remember.

You shouldn't even have to say that you don't know anything about anyone at the start because isn't the average pro-town player in that situation? What matters more is that you said I would be the best lynch option and then you turn around and say it wouldn't be smart to vote for someone who you can't say is scum. Can you ever say (for sure) that someone is scum so long at they are in the game? I've been pretty confident in some lynches in the past but the person is not confirmed scum, town, etc. until lynched and the flip is posted. There are exceptions to this if the mod confirms someone or something but we aren't in that situation.

I guess we should just no lynch for the rest of the game until the mafia win because we don't want to risk lynching a townie! If a cop gets a guilty then we still can't trust that because the claim could be fake!

Also Jazz I know you're hiding.

I'm reading some of your first post after mine, and I'm assuming that you didn't bother using the ninja feature to your advantage because you had already typed that big paragraph, or you just wanted to get your post out there before reading mine?

I wasn't criticizing you voting for rocketguy like you did, I was criticizing you for saying that what I said was "not smart"

Maybe you should expand on what exactly it was that I had said that was not smart, now that we've managed to thoroughly confuse ourselves for the last 3 hours.

Yeah I just posted anyway and I didn't read your post. So you said you were being sarcastic but you do know that you are still voting for a no lynch, right? Were you being sarcastic when you said I would be the best lynch?

I'm not going to explain why it is not very smart because it looks like you knew why in this post. You just said yourself that "it wouldn't be very smart of me to vote for someone that I can't say is scum" so there's your answer to your own question.

The only difference between not voting at all and voting for No Lynch is that if the majority of people vote for a no lynch, then the day ends early. We're probably not going to get 6 more people suddenly voting for a No Lynch, so I'm not to worried about that.

Okay, so:
Quote:

And you would be the best candidate for a lynch without knowing anything about you from this games posts, because you have a history of being too aggressive, and actually being (in my opinion) unintentionally counterproductive towards the towns effort towards winning.

But with that said, you won't be lynched based on that, because by the end of the day we'll have found someone with more to go on, or you'll get lynched for some reason unrelated to that. But it makes you an excellent choice for a first vote. But I didn't vote for you because you already had 2 votes, and I felt it was a bit too early for you to have 3 votes.

Actually I'll need Isa to confirm this but I think you only need half the amount of players (rounded up) for a no lynch. So six votes for a no lynch and seven for a lynch. It actually probably depends on the mod but I have seen some mods do that.

So you are going to vote for me based on actions of the past and not my actions in this game?

To be honest I'm still unfarmiiar with the 'random vote stage' or whatever because in previous games I have really lurked, especially at the start.

Have you read this? http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=RVS It's a way to start the game. Some people also do RQS which is random questioning stage but on this small site we know enough about other members so it doesn't matter about that.
