Yeah, but listening to it again, along with whatever changes you made, I think it's acceptable.

I like the intro very much. The following parts are good as well. The part around 1:35 and onward sounds odd though, especially in comparison to the other parts of the song. Scratch that part, and you have something beautiful. | | Dekudude |

I really like it. I think it would work very well. Not as a main menu screen, as I mentioned, but it'd be awesome otherwise. It'd work in Aeon for sure!

Does anyone hear any distortion in it? the pads in the beginning were distorting on my laptop speakers which is a sign of a big issue, but I can not find where it might be, and it was not distorting anywhere else I listened. I dropped my laptop last night, so maybe the speaker got shifted a little, or maybe some frequency in that instrument is crapping out on me. If anyone else has a laptop, can you listen and let me know if you hear it? | | Livio |

hey I really like Titanium Shard! Maybe not as a main menu song, but rather as music for the level editor.
As for the main menu song, what we need to do is come up with a signature melody for the "Aeon" brand, and then build a song around that. So that when people hear the song, they immediately think of all the good times they had with the game.
This also reminds me of another idea for songs: we should come up with "theme" songs for each of the characters. So maybe in the first level that introduces the pilot character, the music playing would be his theme.
I have a laptop, but I always use headphones. But yeah it really does sound distorted, compared to the version I downloaded. | | the_grimace |

It was distorting through the laptop speakers and not the headphones? right? or was it both. I think I know how to fix it. Though its not favorable, it will get rid of the distortion. I think its just some weird freqency in that pad in the start of the song. Let me know if it was your laptop speakers and not the headphones too. | | Harumbai |

oops, I wrote those two sentences at different times. The first was written after I downloaded it from mediafire. There was absolutely no distortion. But then I realized I hadn't clicked on the kongregate link, so I clicked on that, and I can say that yes, that version is distorted, even through my headphones. | | the_grimace |

ok. This is going to be a new challenge for me. I never encountered this problem before. I think I need to go frequency hunting. This is going to get ugly! Ill see what I can do! | | Dekudude |

I think level editor music should be very less involved. Hardly there... so people don't get annoyed, and still have time to think.

Here's another idea. What if the music in the level editor cycled through multiple songs, like in Amberial Axis. Except that in that game, music seems independent of whatever you're doing. | | Dekudude |

We could have a couple songs, sure... but I think they should be mellow (not dreary, though) and not distracting.

I finally updated the header post. I've been saving the official songs straight to my computer ever since.
Speaking of songs saved to my computer, I was working on my computer science project when I decided to listen to all the songs we had so far (the ones listed under "official" in the header post), and man, these songs are awesome. Great work so far, Deku and grimace.
Btw, deku, if you listen to all the songs, I think Run! has slightly less volume than the others. | | the_grimace |

ok. here's abstraction, aka titanium shard ( i changed the name. i like abstraction more. haha)

There should be no distortion in this. Apparently the problem was some frequency in the synth around 250-300 HZ was resonating in small laptop speakers and causing distortion. Truly a tedious problem.... I was able to get rid of it, but I had to make some sacrifices on the song, as in a slightly less lower volume, and less of the bass and pads in the final mix. Deku listened to it though and said its awesome. So download and let me know what you think.
EDIT:
actually, considering I like my first mix so much (the one with the distortion), I tried another method to mix it. It may have been more favorable then other tries in keeping as close to my original mix as possible, while still getting rid of the distortion. Listen to both and tell me which is better. I think I like this one more.

I'm listening to them both (second time listening to them both, actually), but I'm not sure what to listen for, so I'm not noticing a difference. Also, your first link is named no_distortion_2, while your second seems to be the original no-distortion, even though the way you wrote it makes it seem the other way around.
Hold on, I set up the songs up so that when one ends, the other plays right away, and I just noticed that the first file (or the second one you linked to) sounds a little smoother. But I'm not so sure...
I'll just link to http://www.mediafire.com/?q38g82nv5fn5xok in the header post...
btw, remember my suggestion to make this the level-editor music? Well, it would probably be best for that to have no music at all. | | the_grimace |

ok, thats the one I liked more anyway.
I'll see if I can write another song today, and keep me updated on the sound design. I start work tomorrow, so I'll have way less time, but I still will at least finish any sound design that needs to be done.
for level editor music, it should be something ambient or calming, like puzzle game music, ambient backgrounds, or animal crossing. lol | | jazz |

I think we should have a 'mute' option, cause music helps some people think, while it can also distract others. | | Isa |

I think that goes without saying. However we also need to specify what to mute, for example, if I want to listen to the music but not the sound effects from things such as breaking a crate, then that should be possible. | | jazz |

I'm really sorry for bumping, but I was just wondering if we need any more music for Aeon..? Lately I've been in a music-producing mood. | | Livio |
