Isn't the mob spawner a banned item, just like TNT?

Again, I have no idea how to handle that...Bmwsu, here you go.

NOOOOO

I cannot face building a city like YugCity without it [worldedit].

And here I thought you had worldedit powers, guyguy. So are me and bmw the only ones?

Also, I got it because bmw gave it to me after letting him know that I wanted it and then I commented on the server ranks topic.

Other than that, I don't know how to become one either or what the requirements are.

KiNGskruffi is an architect as well. I dunno the requirements, the MC staff hasn't discussed this.
All mods have worldedit powers as well.

Guyguy, what would you use worldedit for?

The thing is I am sure everybody would want worldedit if they could have it. As an example I would use it just to get rid of the repetative tasks, like huge structures made out of one material. It would be useful, but nobody NEEDS it.

Well I am also planning a huge very repetitive project, so it would be useful. I would only need it for the very repetitive part, the rest I would do manually. You'll have to wait to find out what it is...

Alternative idea. There should be flag here on the site that says if a location was build using WorldEdit or not.

Why would you want that on a creative server? I mean, you're cheating already with item spawning?

I want a straight answer from you guys whether I can have world edit. Not having it puts me off the project I am doing.

So, I'm not involved in minecraft, so I'm a little blind talking about this, but I've kind of read bits of this conversation, and this sounds kind of ridiculous. So, apparently world edit allows you to make buildings easier and stuff like that as well as doing other tasks like getting rid of spammed blocks and stuff like that? But it sounds like the main reason Isa and others want it gone is so that people won't use it to make amazing creations that should be made manually? And it also sounds like world edit is limited to only a few people?

If so far I'm right(if I'm not than you can probably disregard this), then if you allow them to continue using it, then it shouldn't be only limited to a few people because that wouldn't be fair to all of the other people who don't have it and aren't given a choice of being able to use world-edit to make stuff. I can see you not giving it to new members right away, because of people like IceClaw but people like guyguy should be allowed to use it if you keep it, it just wouldn't be fair for people like Haily and Bmwsu to make all of these impressive monuments with it while someone like guyguy who has 1000 posts on the interguild and isn't a threat to grief isn't allowed to do the same. You shouldn't even need to ask him what he would use it for, from my perspective it seems like common sense that if it's being used by some members to make stuff, everyone you can generally trust should be allowed to do the same. We don't only allow staff members to use CSD's cavemaker to make caves, and make the normal members us notepad to make theirs.

If you're not willing to do that you should probably either just get rid of it, or keep it, but not allow people to use it for making buildings and stuff like that, and keep it for other tasks like some people mentioned earlier in this thread.

Anyways, that's just my opinion on a matter that doesn't affect me.

Every builder has item spawning. But only a few people have WorldEdit powers. They clear out these gigantic areas and build all these grand buildings in only a few clicks while everybody else has to spend hours to achieve the same thing. It is fine if we allow WorldEdit, but it is not fair to everybody else if all these grand creations are equal to similar creations that took far more effort to build.

I don't particularly care whether or not you keep world edit for the purpose of building things, I'm just saying that if you do it shouldn't be limited to a few people, because I don't think it's fair to people like guyguy who want to use it to make their creations. I mean obviously some people like that guy from Italy shouldn't be given world edit powers until it's determined that they can be trusted, but guyguy and yuggy I'm pretty confident wouldn't use those powers for evil, and as a result I don't see any reason for why they shouldn't be allowed to use them if other people like Bmwsu and Haily are using them to create their own masterpieces.

As for differentiating WorldEdited things from manually created things, I'd suggest putting sings up that tell you if a masterpiece was made using world edit or was done manually. I don't think that's as big a deal as only a few people being allowed to use it.

I am completely opposed to all use of worldedit. I want it to be so that NOBODY has access to it, including mods. Of course I am opposed. If we grant everyone worldedit powers, a griefer can destroy all work we've done in less than 30 seconds.

All I do on Minecraft is exploring caverns. I used to build things by mining the materials needed but since everyone started to spawn items, it became pointless. With worldedit it'll take even further steps from the Minecraft server I want to play on.

If worldedit becomes the standard all buildings will be made through the use of it. It'd be horrible. It destroys a lot of the joy I get when I watch things built on the server.

And it destroys the fun I have making the buildings without it. How in HELL is it fun doing repeatetive tasks. For example, the YugCity Arena took me and several friends HOURS of boredom to complete the roof, while an admin can avoid this, finishing that in seconds, and having more time to have fun. In my opinion, the fun part of building for me is the design, not the satisfaction of seeing a massive building being completed without WorldEdit- I basically just feel 'The building is awesome, but that just blew my mind how boring building this roof was'.

Ok I will give you a spoiler of my next huge project.
In a huge desert 3 huge pirimids. They would have many tunels, like a maze to find the tomb at the bottom. The things I would use WorldEdit for would be creating a large enough desert, by turning an area big enough into sand. Also to do the many layers. As they will be huge, WorldEdit would be useful instead of manually making up to 64x64 flat layers, which would take ages, but with WorldEdit, it would be much easier.

MineCraft 1.7 is out - as usual, do not download it until the staff gives you the sign of approval. The server will be patched to 1.7 whenever Bukkit releases a 1.7 version.

Agh!!! My idea!!!
I should have talked about it earlier.

Ah, too late.
Anyway, I was gonna do that on a survival server I am an OP on so that it would be dangerous to get to the tomb, and at the end you would find really cool stuff. Except, with only 1 pyramid. Also, I could help you with that since I already have a few ideas you could use in it, unless you want to do it alone.
