The Senate votes to end the Republican filibuster! They just barely made the vote through with exactly 60 votes, and now the debate can move forward again.

A while ago, I went to FoxNews.com to see if there really is bias in their news. Upon entering their site, I see that their motto is "Fair and Balanced." LOL. Then I look up their Breaking News article on the end of the republican filibuster, and I did not detect any blatant bias within the article. But then I saw the comments.....

The comments on Fox News seemed to me like a virtual rally or protest or something. Everyone was writing in all caps, with plenty of exclamation points, and talking about how stupid all this is. But what was really funny was that there was this guy there called "canadian42" from "Canada":
'canadian42 from Canada' said:
Living with a socialized health care system is not all its stacked up to be. As a Canadian, I can tell you do not enter this realm of government control. I have had personal experiences with my parents that were horrific.
lol I can't but help feel like this guy is a fraud. Is it just fox news member having fun? A crazy guy's attempt to fool the public? Or is he some guy hired by fox news to say that? We'll never know...

Btw, the CNN comments look like they have much more intelligent people commenting. There are actually these mini debates going on, and there were some funny satiric replies (at least I hope they were satiric).

Also, Oprah said that she's gonna end her show soon. My parents watch Oprah everyday, so it's a shame..

She will end it in 2011 - seeing as how the world will be pretty much screwed by 2012, you'll only have to live through one year without her show.

So, Jell, because you're from Belgium, what are your thoughts about Herman van Who and Leterminator?

I'm from the Netherlands, not Belgium. I don't know either of them. I only know that Van Rompuy is a Christian Democrat.
I supported Harry Potter.

man, I'm sick and tired of hearing about people getting thrown in jail just for trying to save lives by leaving bottles of water in the desert for immigrants. I just saw a news report of this guy who's part of this humanitarian group and he got sentenced to some bunch of hours of community service, but is now being threatened to be thrown in jail for not shutting up about it. The way I see it, these guys should only be arrested if they are actually interfering with the police's job to enforce the law. All they've done is help these people survive, so by arresting him, the police is basically saying that this guy was interfering with their job to maker sure immigrants die in the desert.

and you know what I noticed. Everyone keeps saying that "it's not like we're racist", but in fact, you don't have to be conscious of your own racism to be racist.

and omg! unemployment rate went down for the first time in months!

That's because it's the Holiday season.  Most business are more busy this time of year, so they hire some people.
And once the holiday season is over, there will probably be some layoffs.  January's unemployment rate will probably go up.

Actually, I think the comparison was made between the November rater and the October rate. I guess it would've made more sense if we were comparing December with November, but maybe they're was a sudden spike in demand for workers on black Friday...

btw, I heard that economists continuously go back to past statistics and change them. For all we know November's unemployment rate could change. >_>
