"Order."

I banged my gavel against the podium before which I stood, as the Interguildians continued to chatter amongst themselves, paying me little mind. Some were gossiping about who 'Dando' would finally choose to marry, while others were having a hypothetical fist fight in the corner of the town hall in which we had all gathered.

"Order!" I yelled, louder this time, while again striking the gavel against the podium. Finally people took notice and began to take their seats.

"So you all know why we've gathered hear today?" I started.

"The mods have all gone crazy!" one shouted. "They're abusing their powers!" yelled another. One stood and faced another, and while pointing, furiously shouted, "Hey, you look like a mod! It's you that's been going around terrorizing the town, hasn't it?!"

Before he could turn to defend himself, the discussion devolved into a shouting match. Accusations flew in all directions and, in moments, the people were at each others throats. I tried to calm them, but it was no use. The hypothetical fist fights were starting to become less and less hypothetical. Just when I thought our proverbial pot was going to boil over, the doors of the town hall flew wide open. As people turned to see who it was, a hush fell over the crowd. The figure casually strolled up the centre isle, tilted up his straw hat to get a better look at the crowd, took the string of hay out of his mouth and began to speak.

"I trust you all know me," he said, and it was clear from the reaction of the crowd that they did. "You all know me as 'Farmer Dandonvitch,' and for the past fifty years, I been graciously supplying this town with the food it needs to survive!" He reached the front of the hall and turned to face the crowd, while setting the backpack that he had been carrying down onto the floor. "But last night, as my son was locking up barn, those darn rabid rabbits, you know the ones that been eatin' all the crops? They jumped him. They must have a shared consciousness or somethin', 'cause they all just jumped him all at the same time as if they all been trained!"

'Farmer Dandonovitch' bent down and reached into his sack and pulled out a soccer ball, which he then proceeded to ceremoniously kick across the room. The townspeople gasped in horror. "You see what they did to him! They tore his head clear off!" He started to sob. "Oh 'Soccerboy13542,' [to clarify: the character, not the player] my dear son, you've left me too soon!" He took a second to recompose himself and turned to face me. "This was no random act! Those ferocious rabbits WERE trained, and they were trained by the mafia!"

"How can you be so sure?" I asked, my voice quivering, still shaken from what I had just witnessed.

"They done left this behind." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a playing card -- the universal symbol of a mafia hit. But this was no ordinary card. It wasn't the ace of spaces or the king of diamonds. No, this card read, "Rubber Banned".

He continued. "I think this is conclusive proof that, not only was this a mafia hit, but they've infiltrated the congress! Some of the mods are in on it! Only they have the power to get somebody rubber banned! There can be no other explanation!" He leaded forward over the podium and gave me a stern look, directly in the eye, his musky odour offending my nostrils. "Haily, you, along with the rest of the council... You better catch the people that done be responsible for this atrocity. If you don't, I'll be sending a pigeon after each and every one of you," he said as he gestured across towards everyone in the room, "and you can bet it'll be carrying a very strongly worded letter!"

With that, he readjusted his hat, returned the string of hay to his mouth, turned, and marched out of the room. He left his son's soccer-ball head in the entryway as a solemn (albeit, slightly disturbing) reminder to the horrors that have already come, but also, the horrors that were to follow if the people responsible are not brought to justice.

The members of the Interguild council, shocked by what they had just witnessed, but also now determined to seek vengeance for 'Farmer Dandonovitch' and 'Soccerboy13542,' returned quietly to their seats. After a moment of silence, one of them spoke.

"So where do we begin?"

-----------------------------------------------

Just then, a hero whooshed down from the heavens and flew into the town hall, generating a tremendous gust of wind. The papers, that used to rest on my podium, were circluated all around the hall. On his tights were written the words, "Captain Obvious."

To the rescue!

"Fear not, for I am 'Captain Obvious!'" he boomed, "And I have come to offer you my helpful advice! Today, I offer the following thought-provoking message to the town:"

Some people will die!

"I hope you have found my message to be insightful! And also, the story that was posted above is pretty flimsy."

And with that, he flew off, ironically leaving the members of the town more confused than they were when he first entered.

-----------------------------------------------

At last The Interguild Mafia Game has begun!

Some Quick Reminders:
- If you are not playing in this game, do not post in this thread.
- Do not talk about the game outside this thread -- this include other threads, the chatbox, and especially through private messages. The mafia and the dead each have their own secret forum in which they are permitted to talk about the game, however.
- Do not post a quote of anything that I send you in PMs or posted in any secret forums. Don't even post something that I supposedly told you, even if you made it up.
- Do not edit your posts, even if just fixing a trivial mistake. Just this once, double posting is preferred.
- Stay active; I will attempt to replace anybody that I feel is not posting enough.
- Please bold any and all Votes and Unvotes. I will not be held responsible for missing any votes that were not bolded.
- Feel free to PM me any questions you may have. Remember to wait for a reply before sending a second PM, as we have only limited space in our inboxes. You have limited inbox too, by the way, so if there's anything important that I PM you, you might want to save it somewhere, so you can go back and look at it later.

The goal of the day phase, for the town-affiliated, is to find any lynch a member of the mafia. If you believe somebody to be a member of the mafia, you may vote for him or her (Vote by saying Vote: Livio, for example). You can only vote for one person at a time, but, if your opinions change, you can change your vote ("Unvote" by saying Unvote: Livio, for example). Once more than half of the alive players have voted for a single player, that player is lynched and removed from the game, ending the day phase. Now, voting isn't just for lynching, however. A crucial part of this game is observing how people are voting and how they are responding to being voted for. The mafia is trying to blend in with you, but they won't want each other to be lynched. Everything everybody says is a subtle clue in deciphering who is mafia and who isn't.

Periodically throughout the day I will post vote counts. If you would like me to post an updated vote count, say so, and I will if I can. I forgot to mention this before, but along with voting you can also "FoS" (Finger of Suspicion, I think -- I've never actually checked that that's what it means) and "unFoS" people, to let them know that, at the least, you're finding them suspicious. Please bold these as well (FoS: Livio, for example), as I will post them along with vote counts. Unlike votes, you can FoS as many people as you like, but they don't actually have any affect on the game, other than officially making your suspicions known.

Roster:
1. Isa
2. Jellsprout
3. Harumbai
4. Soccerboy13542
5. Silver
6. Guyguyxtreme
7. Dando
8. Woodstock
9. Jorster23
10. Yaya
11. DeathBunni X
12. Thomas
13. Bmwsu

With 13 alive, it takes 7 votes to lynch.
Deadline for the day phase: Dec 25, 2010, 11:59PM Interguild Time.

Yes, Christmas. The day will end without a lynch if a majority is not reached by the deadline.
Good luck to all!

Can I say Captain Obvious? jk

I have suspicions, but I will wait to see what other people think.  I shouldn't rush to conclusions.
(BTW, we can make jokes and stuff, right.  This board doesn't have to be complete serious.)

"Shenanigans" are allowed. As long as the rules are followed, you can talk about whatever you want, but I would hope that you would keep on topic (like, please no ranting about TNT or the Arizona Legislature). Now, I'm not gonna tell you -what- to talk about, but one of the rules is to stay active, so make sure that you all talk about -something-.

OK.  My feet stink. (No, not really)

Don't you think 10 days is a couple too many.  I was thinking no more than a week.

Yeah, but then I got a job clipping pear trees with black plastic "clips" to wires in rows. Unfortunately these pear trees have thorns hidden by leaves so my hands are scratched and blistered. So much for a nice holiday, but I will have a break after christmas.

Can I assume from your question that you are on so called winter break?

Nope, we have some exams tomorrow and then we're on break. I have a pretty awful cold and it doesn't look like it's gonna go away any time soon, so I imagine I'll be spending most of my break in bed strung out on Nyquil.

Anyway, are gloves an option, Harumbai?

Well the clips are kind of small and often fiddly. I think I'll get better over time, but we've almost finished all of this job and it will then be onto some other kind of orchard work that needs doing.

Thats sounds like quite a cold if you will need 2 weeks to recooperate. Hopefully you will get some good presents to make up for it, even some medicine perhaps...

This topic is pretty cool. Its like the Random chat except Dando feels compelled ot post in it which makes it cooler.

I rarely get sick, but when I do it hits pretty hard. And it always seems to happen right before I go on break...

When I was in BC I spent lots of time digging around in thorny blackberry bushes so that I could get enough berries to make a few pies, so I know how you feel, Harumbai. Even the leaves were pointy. I was on a stepladder picking some off of the higher branches, leaned too far, and fell into a bush of hurt. Luckily, I wasn't very high up on the ladder, but it was still very painful. Or should I say, berry painfu-- *gets slapped*

I have experience with random thorns since I have a small garden. You do know that citrus trees, berry bushes, and peach trees grow wonderfully in my area?

I've been off school three days running because I was sick. Whenever someone is sick people think 'Lucky.'. But seriously, it is not fun having a goddamn headache, throwing up and being able to eat anything. Hopefully I'll be better tommorrow... (Last day of school tommorrow).

As I said in the chatbox earlier, I've caught a cold, but it's going down. I've been home from school for the past two days though.

---

My theory regarding this game - Jorster and Soccerboy are either BOTH innocent, or BOTH on the Mafia (as it seems right now, this is more plausible). Why? Because CSD knows that these two know each other in real life, and therefore can't be trusted not to talk to each other about the game. If they were put on different teams, should they know each other's role, they could influence the game. If they're both innocent, they'd still gain something from talking to each other. However, if they are both Mafia, they'd already know each others roles, and therefore wouldn't gain anything by talking IRL.

A bunch of us are on break so 7 days seems like enough.

Anyway, I either have to miss My first sparring at tae-kwon-do or to miss a dance . I'm missing sparring though.

I agree with Isa. I think them both being on Mafia is more likely because even if they didn't talk about it, they would still know that they were both on the Mafia.

The problem with the breaks is that some of us will probably go on a vacation during our winter/summer breaks (Silver/Harumbai). I will be absent between 3-9 Januari for example. I think that 10 days are perfect.

That's a good observation, Isa. Assuming CSD did take that into account, you're right about it being more likely that they're both Mafia. On the other hand, this was included in the rules:

'CSD' said:
At the start of the game, the players are randomly assigned to be members of either the "town" or the "mafia".

Assuming CSD stuck strictly to the rules and the Mafia group was indeed chosen randomly, Jorster and Soccerboy's real life relationship wouldn't have been considered. So I'll withhold my finger of suspicion for now and wait to see what they and others have to say.

Well, CSD isn't exactly going to say 'Oh look I'm not assigning SB and Jorster their roles in the way they should be!'

All role were randomly assigned, and no external factors were used in determining who would be town and who would be mafia. That said, it's nice to finally see some mafia-related theories being put forth. Let's keep that going.

Now for a vote count!

1 - Soccerboy13542 (Isa)

With 13 alive, it takes 7 votes to lynch.
