I had an idea to make a monument for our The great lakes, but then I realized that it had to be inspired by an interguild reference, so now my suggestion is that you make a really deep hole in the ground, fill it with stuff throughout, and call it "Thomas' hole" or something, in reference to the hole that Thomas dug himself in the mafia game. Don't be limited to just a normal, hole, though, it can have a cave system attached to it or something.

But I still kinda want to attempt to design something and have it put in the minecraft world so I might go ahead with it anyways

maybe you can download a map editor that lets you make stuff in minecraft without the game. Then you can take screenshots, or send me the file and I can try to recreate it. Unfortunately I don't know much about such editors.

Or I could send you the minecraft.exe and you can log in with my account.

I'm confident I can get you to make the monument I have in mind. But that wouldn't be entered into the competition, it'd just be a monument for our team.

What do you think about the idea of Thomas' hole, though? Or do you have anything better in mind?

I'm not sure, I didn't follow this mafia game. But it seems simple enough to make.

And what kind of monument would we make for the team? A 2D sprite of the great lakes? Or we could use worldedit to actually make the great lakes (not to scale of course, but still fairly big) in the world. Then we could build a fortress in the middle of Lake Michigan.

I was thinking of a pretty tall monument in the middle of a body of water.

A more in depth explanation in spoiler
Spoiler:

I experimented with the idea a little bit in minecraft classic, but the skylimit is lower there, so I could only make a midget version of this, and it's not entirely accurate.

okay, I'm gonna go look for the ideal body of water to put our base in.

Or actually, is there any kind of region you prefer? snow, desert, forest, swamp, cliffs, etc? Swamp is like forest but with less trees and more bodies of water everywhere.

Probably either a swamp or a forest.

I might make it to the water body to the right of your suggestion, just because I feel like it will have more of a presence there, because it looks like people are more likely to build towns on the never ending rail's land than in the forest. Maybe even to the right of the rail, southeast of where it stops.

Because we want this to be a dominating landmark that can be seen from many places, and I'm don't feel like that location is in the center of where activity could potentially be.

just remember that the base has to be that same circle all the way to the bottom. You can add the underwater entrance later.

I built the base from the sea floor to the surface. Now I just have to drain all of that water.

For there to be an underwater entrance, there'll probably have to be some water in the base, but yeah, you should drain a good amount of the water.

So now all you have to add to the exterior is the spiral effect?

And perhaps we'll add windows to the top of the 4th section, but we should see hot it looks finished first.

ninja'd. Don't forget to try out the red and blue blocks in the antenna, as shown in my diagram.

So do you wanna add 4 2 tile high windows at the last possible, with something that will emit light from them at light inside of them?

Do you think that the windows make it looks better or worse at day time?

The windows kinda make me wonder why there aren't more windows.
