Also try to finish the interior of the base before you film.
And also what is darktown?

I was playing around with kro and jazz when we stumbled upon this really cool rock/mountain formation. It was like an arc and it casted a dark shadow on the area below it. They wanted to build something there so I set a warp point, but that meant we needed to come up with a name for the place, and we decided on Darktown. So far, no real link to Lightown. | | Quirvy |

If we decide to have our secret base in the forests below darktown, I'd suggest encouraging them to build stuff there, and also building your own stuff there as well, to get the town rolling. Not necessarily in the rock formation area, if building would be disrupting their awesomeness of it, but you should definitely get a town in the area going. The secret meaning behind this is of course that building a city near the surveillance base is "in the best interests of the Great Lakes Organization"
But that's only if you make it in the forest area I initially suggested. Either way, where every you put it, the surrounding area should have the potential to turn into a town, or in the beginning stages of a town.

So I dunno what's happened with our team since I've been gone. Has Thomas' Hole been started? Did you make additions to the Great Lakes Monument? How are we doing in all of the competitions so far?

'Quirvy' said: Has Thomas' Hole been started? Did you make additions to the Great Lakes Monument? no I'll probably work on that later today and/or tomorrow.
Soccerboy and I each submitted an entry to Pentathlon Round One, and so far I'm the only one to submit anything to Round Two.
You and soccerboy were the only ones on our team to enter the Puzzle Round so far
So we're not going to enter our team monument to the minecraft round? Instead it'll be the thomas hole?
We still haven't started our team collab. I posted a guide on how to use the SMBX level editor in an attempt to make that our collab game...
So far we don't have any speedrun videos, unless you think my latest minecraft video satisfies the requirements. | | soccerboy13542 |

No, as I said before, it doesn't meet the requirements of being inspired by something from the interguild(IE: Sprout Tower, Dando/CSD's playground, ect)
Unless something changed or I misread the requirements.

No it just has to be based off of any Interguild reference. Making something dedicated to your team definitely counts. | | Quirvy |

"The theme here is to make something inspired by some kind of Interguild reference."
I guess, but you still might wanna check with the judges.

Hey Livio, we (you) should turn that entire area around the monument into some sort of lake city by adding additional buildings built on the water.
The way I'd think of it is that there would be tall buildings spread out throughout the surrounding water bodies. These wouldn't have underwater entrances, they'd just have normal entrances above water, but they wouldn't be very close to each other, they'd all be relatively tall, and they would have seemingly conservative designs, as in they wouldn't be yellow-white alternating colors and their designs would actually depict buildings, as opposed to that giant snowman and Sprout Tower.
The area would be pretty large, so obviously it wouldn't be a "okay lets get this done" idea as much as a long-term plan, since we've got actual competitions to worry about (I'll get going on a portrait cave in the next 2 days, if I get finished fast enough I'll try to make a puzzle cave, as well, since Template was really just a "oh crap I need to get something done before I leave" level)
Below is the map you posted earlier. But I added an orange border to show theoretical City of Lakes Boundaries.
The red square I added is the location I marked down as where I'd place the last building I designed, which was much more basic than the main monument.
Anyways, back to competitions, anyone have any suggestions for what I should make my cave look like?

I guess, but you still might wanna check with the judges. 'The comp rules also' said: For instance, you might want to make Shos' Playground, or a Karma War Zone, or an HQ for your IO Team I think that counts.
I like the idea of the City of Lakes, but Sunrise Bay is already a city that's on water. I guess we could make ours different by making sure our buildings are actually built from the seafloor and all the roads are bridges slightly above sea level, as opposed to having it float at sea level. And maybe we could also have some underwater tunnels. Then we can have some kind of walkway surrounding the monument, but not getting too close to it. | | Livio |

Almost forgot. I just added some more things to the monument's insides. On one wall is a "server rack", which is basically a bunch of stone slabs (they are half a tile in height) on top of each other so that it looks like a shelf, and it's supposed to be a record of all of the data we gather. On the wall opposite to that is a bunch of signs holding two lists. One is the IO 2011 Entries Checklist, which has a list of all the IO categories so far and an "X" or "[]" next to it, while the other list is "List of Threats against the Great Lakes", which includes all the names of Team CSD and "all okapis, esp. the purple ones". | | Quirvy |

You should check with Isa anyways.
I was thinking that we wouldn't have roads connecting the buildings. There'd be piers and stuff but to get to the buildings you'd either have to swim, or compass your way there. But underwater Tunnels do sound cool.

It kinda makes me want to lower the sea floor just so that we can have more room underwater. | | Quirvy |

nah, you'll probably have enough room for underwater tunnels, and if you don't then you can just dig into the sea floor.
Also the buildings shouldn't be wide at all, with the exception of maybe a lower area to a tower, as I have that in mind for at least one building I thought up.
How close are you to finishing the monument? And when are you gonna release the new video that has it in it?

lol I just uploaded the monument to the database. But yeah I think this is good enough. And we can always change the insides later since it's supposed to be "secret".
I haven't even been able to film the video yet. I would've done it by now if I never made that vid of the best projects on the server, but I'm not sure if I can film it before leaving on vacation Sunday. We have relatives coming over and that might keep me from taking the time to sit down and make a recording. | | |
