Yeah I was looking to see what version the server was running but couldn't find it anyway, but as a new player I wasn't aware I had the ability to downgrade (not that I checked).

It's not like people are going to know what it looks like.  One of the main reasons I propose it is so we can be sure that we get every biome in the update.  With things like the Mega Taiga and Mesa biomes being rare, if we don't have those within a decent radius then we will be missing out on a part of the game.

So I was riding a rail and then I had to go and I tried to get out but then I broke a block instead lol b/c I had no idea what I was doing. So I'm gonna play it myself a bit before going back on, yeah. So... I'll just pick somewhere to start a pointless minecart ride next time I'm on.

Hey, if we wind up not having every biome in the new update, we should have a much larger borderguard, say 8km, since there's also the new metabiomes which are about 3km across and contain different sets of biomes depending on which one it is.

So I'm finally up-to-date in this thread and I don't really have anything to say other than:
1) I'm okay with getting rid of the economy (even though the decision has already been made)
2) I don't really care about the seed. It'd be easier to make this decision if we had some candidate keys to consider?
3) Bukkit still hasn't released a recommended build. But I think it's funny how one of their most recent beta builds is marked as broken.

For 1.6, Bukkit didn't have a recommended build out until 1.7. They were actually developing 1.6.4 even after 1.7 was released, so don't hold off for a recommended build, just use a beta one that's not broken.

Did we hold off on updating to 1.6.2 until there was a recommended build? Should we look into updating the server using a non-recommended build?

The poll seems to indicate that we should get our seed randomly. Time to move on to the discussion/poll of what difficulty level the new server should be set at?

No, we updated to 1.6.4 before a recommended build, but the Survival world was bugged for whatever reason and a massive area glitched (those posts where Teo said there were new ores is definitely one). I don't think that should affect us updating to 1.7 though, because we're going to do a reset of the survival world anyways.

I'm pretty sure my occurrence was related to mymop's house removal and Bmwsu said that he used WorldEdit near my mines and the affected area has accidentally reached my mines as well. I think it wasn't fail of a not recommended build. However, there were lots of other problems on the server that could be likely caused by that. A glitched chunk, the world corruption that forced us to restore the world to a previous backup, massive lag. I took a look on the list of new builds and there was a 1.7 one marked as beta and it was not broken, so I thought we would try it out with that one, but I'm not too familiar with Bukkit and server stuff, so I decided not to propose anything.

Speaking of the seed, I just saw there's a new poll and voted for a random one. Personally, I don't see any point of a predetermined seed. Yeah, we might miss the rare biomes, but I think I prefer good and fun times spent on our Interserver thanks to a random seed rather than have the fun ruined and own a bunch of some hardened clay from the mesa biome...

The reason we're on 1.6.2 is because the 1.6.4 recommended build was lagging the server and giving us out of memory errors.  And that's even the second recommended build that they've released and it's got problems.
The backup was caused from the world being corrupt some how, some where.  Even after downloading the world and practically deleting every chunk in it it was still corrupt, so we had no other choice but to restore it to a backup.  The WE that affected your mines, Teo, was a result of the removal of Mymop's house and the use of WE to regen the chunks so that it didn't look like someone has built there.

Here's the results from this poll about the seed:

The new poll will be up shortly.

Lol, someone voted for that option. Anyways, I see there's even a hardcore option. I enjoy playing with this option because it works generally like in the real life, you're dead and you can't live anymore on that world (however you can start another world as *another* person). That's why it's a bit unclear here; there's only one server and when the person dies, he can't play on the server anymore or something? If he would just respawn in the spawn point, then it would be practically the same as hard, maybe except for the fact that his items are gone forever.

With hardcore, you would just respawn like you normally would, but you just wouldn't naturally regenerate health.  So it's not 100% like the option in SSP, but similar.

I like Normal, mainly because I want to keep the server accessible to new players. For all we know, those players who visit the server frequently without necessarily going on the forums probably prefer normal. And things were already getting pretty hard when they added the ability for zombies to summon other zombies.

But I wouldn't be opposed to hard mode...

Also how about we schedule the server reset soon? We'll take the most recent beta bukkit build (unless a new recommended one comes out). This is the best time to do it, since people are more active now, and we'll only get less active as time goes on.

We said we should have a week's notice before the reset, so how about doing it next Saturday? Or if that's too late, maybe Thursday would be better.

Huh, too bad it's so late, because the server reset was announced a long, long time ago. People probably are active right now because of the christmas breaks, my one ends on Tuesday while it had its start on the 21th of December. Still, the days close to the new year and christmas are way better time for having a reset rather than in the early school months or the later school time. I'd say Saturday. We'll have more time to prepare the server for the reset and there's always chance for a recommended build appear on Thursday or Friday.

I definitely support that. From my standpoint, I'd prefer we reset as soon as possible, since I'm on winter break right now, and I won't have much time for playing on the server once the semester restarts.

Still want to see if we can plan what we're gonna do with our spawn before the reset but I'm not sure if people even want to have a planned spawn vs a free for all spawn. Maybe we should hold a poll for that, too.

Hey we need to hold a server tour before resetting. As I posted in the chatbox, my availability today is unclear but I will probably be free at around 1am or 2am interguild time tonight. I'm not sure how available I'll be tomorrow, but chances are that I'll be pretty free after around 2pm or 3pm interguild time tomorrow. If you want to join the tour, tell me when you're available and/or try to be online often within the times I posted.

I go back to my university on Sunday of next week, but at least my classes don't start until Wednesday.

(Also stop posting on top of me guys!)

As for Spawn, maybe we could just declare one person in charge of making something and let them do whatever they want, and we can either accept/reject their work. I'd rather have at least someone in charge of it rather than no one.

So guys, thoughts on what we should do with spawn? I think it should be more than an iron golem next to the portal to creative.

Some ideas to start off with:
-Set it in a man-made village, or a natural village heavily altered like Perseverance. Doing this might force more regulation around spawn, though.
-Set it in a building which can either be just agreed upon (ie: The Hotel, just let kroto design something awesome and have everyone working to build it, ect.), or by having people build models in creative and selecting the winner from those.
-Underground fortress
-Aboveground fortress
-Inside an actual minecraft fortress, converted into a base
