I don't think so, or else Flint and Steel would be banned.

You can craft them but neither of them work, because they're banned. (Admins can use them though) Light something with a flint and steel, even netherrack which burns forever, will light up for a second, and then just disapear. Same with TNT, place it and try to set it off, and it will just disapear. So although you can craft them you can't use them, making them more or less banned.

Well did you use worldedit before it crashed? If so, then that is your problem, because Kro crashed the server while using worldedit, this is strike two for the server, and strike one for Yuggy if he used worldedit before it crashed.

Yes, things that require constant particles and perpetually animated things such as lava, fire, and redstone cause such lag if used too much.  However, I do not know why water causes this same lag.  If you make a mountain of water with WE, it won't lag as much as much as if you had done it with lava.

But are very small.  Anything in large amounts is what you want to worry about.  Remember when Kro caused all the server lag?  That's because there was tons of small little torches bobbing up and down, waiting to be picked up, each of them having their own animation, all of which the server had to do individually.
Make more sense?

Why don't they despawn after a few minutes?

I don't know why, it's just the way they are in SMP.  In SSP they despawn after 5 minutes, so i don't know why it's not the same in SMP.

No, I think he made a torch cube with we but everything fell. It was a big one? I think! Punctuation fail.

Well WE isn't a good power, and it crashes the server and/or makes it lag.
