I don't think 1.8 is incompatible, I think its just that you wont get any of the new 1.8 stuff in the map.


I got the 1.8 pre-release (I left a copy of the 1.7.3 mincraft) and on new maps you can disable buildings i think. This includes towns.

Yes, you can disable towns AND dungeon/mineshaft generation, at least in single player, though I am sure there will be plugins to disable stuff like that.  They are 100% compatible with the old maps, only the newly generated chunks will look odd.  Any further exploring past already seen chunks is when the new world begins.

Multiplayer has changed... You can create a server with the click of a button, and the screen now shows a list of up to 20 servers of your choice. It looks a lot more finnished.

1.8 Comes out today! I have been waiting for... well to be honest since my freind told me two days ago. Anyways, 1.8 has arrived! Exept I cant get it today. I'll have to wait untill tuesday.  ._.

So Yuggy.  We've had two server crashes recently, and both of the times you've been on.  You also said that you were using WE.  However, they were two different errors, and I am NOT saying that they were you, though there is the possibility.  Did it happene either time after a command in WE?

First time I wasn't even logged on, second, redbow was on as well, and well I was just walking? I had used a command a while before, but it had finnished the command and was working fine. Could be me but I'm not sure.

Actually, I am requesting WE powers, but I won't be using it on 5,000,000,000,000 blocks, I will use it a little at a time, then when I start to get better at using it, I will start using it for bigger things, just I will make sure I won't kill the server.

I think we can trust him, he is always going on about how he hates misused WorldEdit. What do you guys think?

Well, I think he'll be responsible with WE. As we know he hates so called "WE abuse". Like you said. I think he should be able to have it. And I don't think there is a reason why he shouldn't.

No we don't, you should not have updated to 1.8. You should have waited until the plugins and stuff were updated to 1.8 before updating to it. Do you have a copy of the 1.7.3 minecraft.jar? You need one if you want to go on the server until the plugins and other things are finished updating too.

If we are going to switch server, we need to decide fast before this world also gets build full.

Try using a different user area which is not updated to play minecraft.

I have saved a copy of 7.3, and could put it up tommorrow. Would that help?

The SERVER is not the problem; an update for the server code to handle 1.8 is needed, and will be released soon.  This is the site of the version of Minecraft servers we run, and is used by most servers; it's what our old on ran on.

No, Yuggy, because of these reasons:
1) That is 100% illegal.  You could get in big trouble, as they don't want other people distributing the JARs for ANY reason ANYwhere.
2) If it's more than a week, then the Bukkit team is having trouble updating to 1.8.  It will not be long!

I restored a non-modded version of 1.7.3 with ease, because I deleted it to get Zombe's mod pack, but now I'm fine!

If you just bought it you need to wait for the server to update to 1.8

Then the server IP is at the top of the page. Ask for building powers here, and give your MC username.

I bought it, like, just yesterday. I also already put in the IP address but it says there's a communication error and I can't connect.

The server isn't updated to 1.8, and I don't know when that will happen.  I'll post here when the update comes out.
