Tips for round winners:

If you don't have a great idea when you learn that it is your turn, don't just make a round that you don't even think is good. Try to think to come up with a good idea for a round, and then if you can't, then make a round that you don't even think is good.

Also you're encouraged to start the round in this format: "You have one post to [what you have one post to do goes here]"

Additionally don't end the round early. Rounds should be at least close to a day long. If you started the round at night, you can't end it tomorrow morning. If you started it in the morning, you shouldn't end it before you go to bed.

Interrounds:
The people running rounds are ideally supposed to judge approximately 24 hours after they start the round, but from now on if they haven't judged after 30 hours (6 hours late) then anyone is allowed to start a round between rounds, like the guess when Livio will start the next round, guess how many dogs shos has, ect.

You're also allowed to do this if the round has been judged within 30 hours, but the next guy hasn't started their round within 12 hours of the other round being judged.

The catch is of course that the round could end at any time, because these rounds last until the current round is judged and the next round begins.
You may judge rounds however you'd like, but at the end of the round there can only be one winner.

These rounds will be marked as ".5"s in the previous rounds and winners

Now there's a gift!  Whether or not the pillowcases have been cleaned or not, and depending on how good the spaghetti tastes, I would rather enjoy such a present. 8/10

What a clever entry!  Unfortunately, it won't win you the highest score, as Yaya's delightful vision of a messy meal encased within a clothy membrane is the winner.7.9/10

Because they are amazing succulent things that melt in your mouth, taste like heaven, and want to be eaten.  The sugary sweetness, the light fluffiness... who couldn't resist?  Especially when they are warm, eating one makes you happy and alsos you to open up to a whole new world.  A world of bliss and pure joy that radiates through out your body, spreading to others.  When they other people around you pick up on the happiness of you, they then eat a doughnut.  In turn, this spreads to more people, which makes the general happiness of first world countries happier.  This would also boost the economy because so many people would want to eat more, and would create jobs for the poor people that work at bakeries.
And let's not forget that science has proven that doughnuts have a desire to be eaten, as they know that in doing so they are helping the world in many ways.  They are selfless, and willingly let you eat them, all to let you enjoy them an bring joy to the world.  It truly is a remarkable system, and they enjoy doing it.  Even the angels in heaven and God himself smile when eating a doughnut, and simply cannot describe such awesomeness, and wonder how such a thing was ever invented by a mere mortal.  Even Chuck Norris submits himself to the Doughnut, and Chuck Testa cannot fake a doughnut.
Surely, how can he not eat a doughnut for the good of all mankind?

Big obviously, because it revolutionized the smilie as we knew it. No more were we limited to smilies next to our text box. We could type fp surrounded by colons, and boom, we just voiced our displeasure over how stupid something that someone said was. It also introduced brought big smilies into the mix.

Hey guys I'm just going make a long post witch tests my brain power and includes excellent grammar and spelling. With no faces made out of punctuation and don't forget, no sentences in all - caps.

So, anyway...

The Cubic Formula
(Solve Any 3rd Degree Polynomial Equation)
I'm putting this on the web because some students might find it interesting. It could easily be mentioned in many undergraduate math courses, though it doesn't seem to appear in most textbooks used for those courses. None of this material was discovered by me. -- ES

You should know that the solution of ax2+bx+c=0 is

There is an analogous formula for polynomials of degree three: The solution of ax3+bx2+cx+d=0 is

(A formula like this was first published by Cardano in 1545.) Or, more briefly,

x   =   {q + [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/21/3   +   {q - [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/21/3   +   p
where

p = -b/(3a),   q = p3 + (bc-3ad)/(6a2),   r = c/(3a)
But I do not recommend that you memorize these formulas.

Aside from the fact that it's too complicated, there are other reasons why we don't teach this formula to calculus students. One reason is that we're trying to avoid teaching them about complex numbers. Complex numbers (i.e., treating points on the plane as numbers) are a more advanced topic, best left for a more advanced course. But then the only numbers we're allowed to use in calculus are real numbers (i.e., the points on the line). That imposes some restrictions on us --- for instance, we can't take the square root of a negative number. Now, Cardan's formula has the drawback that it may bring such square roots into play in intermediate steps of computation, even when those numbers do not appear in the problem or its answer.

For instance, consider the cubic equation x3-15x-4=0. (This example was mentioned by Bombelli in his book in 1572.) That problem has real coefficients, and it has three real roots for its answers. (Hint: One of the roots is a small positive integer; now can you find all three roots?) But if we apply Cardano's formula to this example, we use a=1, b=0, c=-15, d=-4, and we find that we need to take the square root of -109 in the resulting computation. Ultimately, the square roots of negative numbers would cancel out later in the computation, but that computation can't be understood by a calculus student without additional discussion of complex numbers.

There is also an analogous formula for polynomials of degree 4, but it's much worse to write down; I won't even try here.

There is no analogous formula for polynomials of degree 5. I don't just mean that no one has found the formula yet; I mean that in 1826 Abel proved that there cannot be such a formula. The problem is that the functions  don't do enough of what you need for solving all 5th degree equations. (Imagine a calculator that is missing a few buttons; there are some kinds of calculations that you can't do on it.) You need at least one more function. One such function, for instance, is the inverse of the function f(x)=x5+x. (There are other functions that would also work, and some of them are more interesting to mathematicians for various reasons, but I like this one because it can be described in fairly elementary terms.) That function, together with the functions  and addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is enough to give a formula for the solution of the general 5th degree polynomial equation in terms of the coefficients of the polynomial - i.e., the degree 5 analogue of the quadratic formula. But it's horribly complicated; I don't even want to think about writing it down.
